Where I live, New England area (NE USA), the smallest games are 2/4 LHE and 1/2 NLHE ($60 - $300 buy in). Some 1/3 Stud and 1/5 Stud as well.

In Atlantic City it is 2/4 Limit.
A daily House Tourney ( is about 65 bucks give or take 10 dollars)

As for No Limit it is 1/2 which is a 100 to 300 buy in.

Ballys use to have a 1/1 No limit game with a 50 to 150 buy in. Almost certain they discontinued that game about a year ago.
In a certain way its sorta a shame they did as it was a nice stepping stone for newbies who found 1/2 a bit intimidating.
Way back when I played about 3 games at that level just to get "the feel" of a NL game.

I went to a casino the other night in the UK expecting to play £1/£1 NL and the game was 25p/25p which is roughly 30c/30c. It wasn't what I wanted to play or had planned to play but made for an interesting game with the £400 I had taken with me.

same about all over the world as the games need to big big enough so the casino can rake off what they want from the game without totally destroying it.

your next question should be what is the smallest stakes that can be played and still win enough to be worthwhile at where the rake doesnt take all the possible winnings.

I would have thought the same but 25p/25p tables in the UK in Bolton looked to take in a good bit of rake at 10%. The opening sizes were just inflated when it got to 1am. I managed to walk away £200 up.
