I've been playing poker for 4 years and been taking it seriously for a year now. I played and studied everyday for a year, online and live (mostly tournaments) and now i want to start building a bankroll. I can say that i reach final tables at the casinos in london quite often and im a average player in cash games, i win most of the time in casinos.

Ive been playing Mtts everyday online for a year too and i decided that they are not really profitable. However, i love playing them and still want to but not as often. I have a bankroll of 695$ on party poker right now. I don't play on pokerstars anymore as i have issues with my account (is it bad ?). What games should i play ?

Im playing mostly 5$ and 2$ sitngos (6 or 9), 0.05/0.10 cash games, sometimes take a shot at 11$ sit n gos and 0.10/0.25 cash games. What do you recommend ? i really want to start building a good bankroll.

Also do you recommend leaving party poker to a better site with more fish or is it fine ?

So you waited a year playing MTTs every day and you haven't build a bankroll yet?

Yes they are. I know a lot of people making a decent living playing them and by decent i mean $100k+ a year playing on dif sites, tourney selecting a lot and with an ABI of $30-$35.


Giving your mindset regarding MTTs i would mix NL10 with some NL25 tables when you find a "soft" table to play in.


I would strongly consider playing on one of these new Asian sites, I've heard they´re ridic soft and paying decent rewards/rakeback to new players.

The ones that are offset by having to faff about with agents and have much higher risk of you losing your money?

No I never won an MTT, everytime I win 600 or so I spend them or gamble to win big and get a decent bankroll.

I'm currently playing a 109 tournament or party and I have 150k chips. Maybe this will start a bankroll. I Find grinding cash games online so much harder than at the casino but I need at least 10k to be profitable playing cash at the casino because of the variance. I'm talking 1/2. Don't you think that online is very hard and you basically just need to wait for made hands and play on as many table as you can ?

I would love to check these sites btw do you have any names ?

I know its not good to play a 109 for my bankroll btw but I wanna take a shot when I have a 600 bankroll. I think I can go pretty far when its a smaller field. Grinding micros is so annoying, you can't make bluffs and there is too many grinders just waiting for small profits.

Well, I am not going to direct you on some site, but I disagree for the profitablity of MTTs, them being the easiest money there is on poker online, for most players, that is.

MTTs run only on biggest sites from most parts, and to avoid variance problems, don't play the mega-big tourneys as it has been figured to be mainly gambling, although not as big as once considered (someone made more accurate simulations later, and there might be some post on sticky perhaps? On MTTs forum, or at least I bonged it from there somewhere if I remember correctly). There are also a tracking site or two for tourneys.

I don't now remember the stats, just having them somewhere, but grinding 10 to 30 dollar MTTs tourneys, not too mega-big, is already reasonable, and aiming for 50 dollar averages, including rebuys and so, is plenty good by many standards for most players.

The variance isn't too bad at these levels, although one has major downs, but also major highs. It is only at 100+ dollar level that one is dealing with the best players and the variance grows exponentially, to ten times higher.

The only problem is the grinding, if you can do it, one needing to stay at least at 4 tourneys per day, 200 days per year, and it is already definitely good (many have done so for years, and I know their stats and one does not need to expect more than one month long losing streaks -- running that much below expectation, but it doesn't happen during too many months).

And live tourneys offer an expansion to that when one feels like one is ready and has a roll or shot money for it, adding up to a long run in the long run. Although the USA tourneys mean 30% tax even for the EU players (no tax for the UK players, although all need to pay in the usa and then file the money back, so one needs to know about that).

If you don't like the grind or the strick times (and longer at times), then MTTs are not for you, but it is definitely the easiest spot in the online poker world. Although one needs to study the books also.

I will try to play smaller field tourneys however i did some study and apparently MTTs are the most difficult to profit on. Most big poker pros did their money from cash games, all the others that did it from MTTs are broke or making an average salary in a year, also they're deeply in debt as they need money for the variance.

Don't know, i'm lost and don't know what to choose. I have confidence in my poker game but it seeems that i just can't find the right games or i'm just unlucky.

I now have 950$ in party poker and would hate it if i lose it all again.
