What are the differences between no-limit and limit

I would like to direct this question towards players who are versed in limit hold'em as well as no-limit.
Specifically, I have questions on these points:
How does the relationship between equity and expected value compare in no-limit and limit?
How would a ranking of profitable hands in limit translate to their profitability in no-limit?
To what extent is hand selection affected? I imagine more hands become playable in no-limit, but do any types of hands become less playable?
Are there conditions in no-limit which mimic limit games, or limit hand selection? In short stack games? Games with loose-passive calling stations?
Are there any other insights an understanding of limit can shed on no-limit?

from nl to limit: hands with implied odds go waay down in value: small pocket pairs and suited connectors, since the implied odds just arent there. Suitedness of cards is far less meaningful - ATo has very similiar EV to ATs. Same with connectedness, K8o is much better hand that 89o, which arguably is not the case in NL. All the high cards go up in value, since reverse impled odds from hitting top pair are NOT there. High pairs are obv still the best
As for conditions for nl to mimic limit, if you are a decent player, no, not really, since even in loose passive game you should be able to extract value with huge valuebets.

longspring can you tell us a little bit more about why you ask the question, i.e. are you considering switching from one to the other, are you just curious, are you thinking that understanding one might enhance your understanding of the other even if you don't play both etc?
And when you say limit or no-limit, are you talking about hold'em? I ask because, although it's rare, other forms of poker are occasionally played at no-limit. Almost all forms of poker are commonly played at limit.
