What are the best daily tournaments to play in Las Vegas? I have a job where I am pretty much on call as a Casino Upper Management Staff Member so as much as I would like to commit to playing bigger tourneys, I find that I mostly only have the time for small dailies. I am looking to stop playing cash this year and focus solely on tournament play to get ready for the World Series of Poker. Any positive feedback to this naive question would be helpful.

Daily tournaments can take hours.

To be available if called out, play cash.

It's all one long session in cash.

To drop out of a tournament because you are called out would really suck.

I thought that dailies didn't take as long because the prize pool and therefore the fields were smaller. I want to get established as a tournament player but I need to start somewhere. What do you recommend?

Prize pool and smaller number of players does not necessarily mean short. Let's face it...I have seen single table satellites that went three to four hours before a chop occurred. Does not happen often, but it CAN occur (last one I had like that was a $100 or so STT at a Circuit event in New Orleans).

And while MANY of the dailies might wrap up quick, it would REALLY suck to be in the one that doesn't and you got called out.

Plan accordingly...
