Trying to learn poker, but this book is confusing me... Trying to learn poker, but this book is confusing me...

So i just picked up, Dynamic Full Ring Poker by James Sweeney, and in it he uses very confusing numbers that im not quite sure what he's referring to.

This is a passage from the book on page 34:

" So let's change the situation a little bit and say it folds to us in the CO with Qd8d with $50 at 50NL. We have been playing pretty tight for the last couple orbits due to being card dead. The button is 7/5 over 700 hands with a $12 stack, the SB is a 12/10 over 480 with $45, and the BB is a 30/8 over 120 hands with $50."

i understand Q8 of diamonds, but $50 at 50NL, what does that mean?

what does red mean?

7/5 over 700 hands with a 12 stack? im assuming he means 700 Big Blinds which translates to 12 dollars of total money? though i don't know what the 7/5 is referring too.

really appreciate some sort of clarification. thanks guys

7/5 is 7 VPIP, 5 PFR i.e. super tight.

$50 at 50NL means the player has 100 big blinds of 50 cents each i.e. $0.50 x 100 = $50.

Never read the book but my guess is the author recommends raising to $1.50, something like that.
