Hello all, first post!

Figured beginner would be the place to start... :P

Now to the meat and potatoes.

Scenario: $150 MTT (TDA rules) - 13/65 left (6 and 7 handed) top 7 get paid. avg stack is 15bb.

on table 1 (6 handed) UTG open shoves 9bb, stands up and immediately walks about 15-20 feet away from the table to throw away a beer and talk to cocktail waitress until everyone had folded. When UTG comes back the player on the BTN mentions that they should protect their hand and it could be killed or considered dead. UTG and BTN get in a big argument and the floor and clarifies that the hand is not dead. So is this more of an angle or etiquette violation than a rules violation? Thanks in advance and if your wondering we chopped it 4 ways

By TDA Rules

"31: At the Table with Action Pending

Players with live hands (including players all-in or otherwise finished betting) must remain at the table for all betting rounds and showdown. Leaving the table is incompatible with protecting your hand and following the action, and is subject to penalty."

Penalty is almost never killing a hand.

Button is 100% right about protecting hand. If I am all-in, my hand (or at least a couple of fingers) is on or near my cards at all times. If dealer kills the hand by accident, you would have no recourse
