Hi all,

This is a BQ because I've never been in this situation before.

I got into a verbal back and forth with another player over something petty at the table last week, some name calling ensued (I said I heard he was an angle-shooter), and he said if he saw me outside he'd shoot me up.

I raised this interaction, including the threat, with casino management and they turned the situation on me, claimed there was no threat, gave us both a warning, and did not escalate to security. Apparently this player is there every day now. I have not been back in a week and I normally play every day. I went to poker room director and he said this should not have been handled by casino staff and escalated to security and gave me security email, but added that staff said there was no threat.

I enjoy playing there but don't want to run into this player (a fairly regular player) or staff who were involved in investigating. Not sure what to do, this is a big source of income for me and my alternative games are not as lucrative.

Thanks,
DT

"Hey buddy, can we talk? Things got out of hand last week, and I just wanted to apologize for going a bit far. I would like to put it behind us."

Just let it go imo. I know you can't control what you worry about. But, you worrying about isn't going to help. I am sure it is a lot to do about nothing.

This. Getting called an angle shooter is prob the worst insult at the poker table so guy likely just went off the rails. Not the same situation but I play in many Rec sports leagues and arguments there have also ended up with the “I’m strapped so come test me” type guys. Nothing ever happens post game it’s a whole lotta nothing.

Like another poster said if you want to smooth it out just apologize next time for calling him an angle shooter and move on.

DT - the magic words are, "I am in fear of my safety". I had issues with a female stalker. As soon as I said those words to security they took care of biz. Just roll back in there - dont interact and if he does anything aggro just tell any employee to get security as he has made threats in the past and I am in fear of my personal safety.

I'd just carry on playing there, people love to run their mouths, but actually murdering a guy in the parking lot 10 yards away from a massive surveillance system is a whole different level. I mean, I'd watch my back but there's just no way I'd avoid the casino on this basis.

Or if you're not comfortable with that just don't interact with the other player.

He most likely wasn't serious.

If you really think he was and you fear for your safety, contact security/police. Pretty sure a threat against your life is against the law.

Obviously also stay away from him if you actually think he's going to shoot you. What use is money when you're dead?
