Im 21 years old and played poker for the last 2 years. I played once a week at homegames with my ex and his friends.
Now I want to start online.
I have appr. 2000 Euros won from the homegames i want to use.
Which site should I play?
We played blinds 10cent/20cent with 50 Euro stacks.
Should I start at 50 Euro tables?
What else do I have to consider?

your homegame is nowhere near as tough as online games

there are a significant number of professionals playing the 50 dollar/euro tables online and I would expect that 2k to go fairly quickly

I'd start by depositing 50 EUR and work your way up from 1c/2c games because I suspect those games are closest to what you're used to

DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT, play that high right out of the gates. Seriously, DON'T. You'll start losing pretty quickly, and you'll tilt away a lot of your money.

Start at the bottom, 1c/2c or 2c/5c, and give it a full month, just so you can get into the groove and see where you stand in the lowest games. If you feel comfortable after a month, and you're winning at those stakes, start moving up.

Depends on your skill level. Why don't you write something about the way you think about a hand and we'll be able to judge?

but it's tough going and if you're not thinking in a similar way to the author at a baseline level it's not going to help you

Well - I looked a lot of youtube videos in the last year.

So I know what ranges are, I know the importance of being aggressive and being in position. Thats why I probably was the biggest winner in the homegames in the last 6 months.

Start playing online mtts, its easier to figure out. Online cash game is tougher nowadays with 100bb..a lot of nits folding

As indicated ... online cash games tend to be very tough and can very easily ruin a new Player's enthusiasm for the game in a hurry.

IMO there are plenty of 'free' sources online (including here) that can help you obtain poker knowledge. You may want to check your local library as well. Some of the information will be outdated a little, but I still feel that there's no harm in following the history and evolution of the poker mindset.

You should figure out pretty quickly what method of study works best for you ... podcast, Youtube clips, forums and/or watching streams can all help depending on your ability to absorb and how much time you allocate to study v playing.

I would suggest tournaments as well, especially if you can't take the 'money' seriously at .01/.02 cash, which can be tough for some. During/after each session take a look at a few hands in an effort to determine if you are using your chips to your advantage. Remember it's 'how' you play, not profit/loss. Sometimes you will play 'properly' but end up on the short end of variance. It's very important that you recognize the difference between good play and good 'luck'.

Have fun, post a couple of hands ... most of the posters here really do want to help you improve your game. Just remember to have an open mind about it ... just because it worked in a small game with a limited Player pool doesn't mean it will work consistently across the rest of the poker world. GL

Breaking with my boy friend had nothing to do with poker except that I am not welcome anymore on the saturday round :-(

I spoke with one of the better players today and I will go to the casino tomorrow wirh him (there are lot of 1/3 Euro games running every day and he said I am good enough to win there). So I will try to write down big pot hands and post here)

He also told me some good youtube videos to study (which I will do tonight)

$2000 roll is a bit short. a few bad beats, bit of tilt and your down to under $1000.

on the other hand you can go on a bit of a heater and win 3-4 buy-ins and have over $3000 or more.

its all about profit no matter how large or small it is.

$2000 is enough to play $11 mtt's or 25nl for a beginner 1 tabling and focusing on how to win.

Op do you have a liferoll and income or is this $2000 your total amount of money you have to your name? This one question can determine whether you go and have a shot at live casino poker or not.

You will probably sit 50nl and lose 2k within a week.

Do as the others have told you and sit in much lower, ideally at 2 or 5nl. You probably won’t beat 5nl zoom

Skip stars and play on other sites. Find the right marks.

Start at 10NL zoom.

U have 2K bankroll so that’s about 200 buy ins which should be plenty.

I really would avoid playing anything below NL10, it will teach u some really bad lessons imo that will take a long time to unlearn. I’ve watched it happen to too many friends

When u start feeling like 10z is too easy, move up to 25 and 50 when on days where ur well rested and feel good.

Zoom has a really poor quality of play at the moment. Might be covid idk. Came back after 9 months or so and its soft as...

2nd night i folded with top pair top kicker for 250.- and got showed a bluff :-(

To the question before:
The 2453.- are just poker money.
I am studying and live with my parents. I have a 15h/week job beside this.

Ps: Bought "Grinders manual" (tipp from my mate) and already started
