Hi! I just won a satellite to the Sunday Million on Pokerstars and I'm having second doubts if I should try to compete in it... I usually play 5-10 dollar tournaments with the occasional larger buy in (largest being the 27 dollar tourneys in WCOOP) and I thought that I could try my luck in the Sunday Million if I won a satellite. I am a winning player in the smaller stakes over the short time I've played poker (about half a year) and study poker a lot. So my question is should I play the Sunday Million like I first had in mind or should I use the tournament money which I won in the satellite to play at my normal stakes. I would love to play in the Sunday Million and test my skills against good regs but I'm a bit nervous if the competition is too tough... Thank you for all the replys in advance!

Sensible option is to take the T$ and build the bankroll, but if you feel like the gambool, gambool, it's certainly one of the weaker tournaments at that level so if you want a punt at it, don't let us stop you

Take the t$, if you have to ask this question the preasure of money will put you in bad place from which you wont be able to make good decisions. Trust me, I play abi of 11$ and by mistake registred 1k PKO WCOOP for like 20% of m BR. If you dont feel comfortable there is no point in playing it

Thanks for all the replies! thought about it for a long time and decided to skip the Sunday Million this time! I will try my luck in a bit of a larger buy in with the tournament money though... Something like the mini million or the Sunday Marathon.

Thought about this comment for a long time and it got me thinking that I would be too afraid of busting out early so I might be in a huge disadvantage in that way... and how did it go for you in the 1k WCOOP? Was it as hard as low stakes people imagine or did you just get unlucky?

None of the information needed to make this decision is present IMO.

Do you have $4,000,000? If so, then whatever, go ahead and play it.

Do you have $2,700? If so, then no, don't play it.

I think you are overestimating the skill of the other players in it actually. I live in the US so have not been able to play the Stars Sunday Million in quite some time, but the vast majority of the field in it always sucked. It was their big advertised tourney with a large guarantee, a relatively low buy-in and a lot of satellites; it was probably the softest weekly online tournament above microstake levels (the tough tournament back in the day was probably the $162 Stars had on Tuesday or Wednesday nights (I wanna say Wednesday?), I forget which day). None of which necessarily means your skill level is there; I don't know your skill level, so how could I know. But you also have to consider how much money you have. Large entry MTTs like this are incredible high variance; you simply shouldn't spend much of your money to enter it. And you didn't say how much money you have, so I don't see how anyone can actually give decent advice. $200 of PokerStars tournament dollars is worth like $199.50 in cash if you sell it in this thread:

Thanks for ur input! Didn't know about that thread and that tournament dollars could also be sold for almost their exact value! And yes I thought of the variance and decided not to take part as the Sunday Million would have been about one tenth of my BR.

It is very hard obv. I expected to be isolated prf very often but the thing that struck me the most was how hard it was to get xhips from people. I play abi of 11 and people pay you off with anything that has value whereas at this level, people are very smart about what your range is and where you are at that range in connection with the information you gave away. Because of that I was taking any flips I could for stacks because in postflop, I would mostly bleeed. I managed to survive one pay jump and with 650 in bounties I turned profit about 1300ish.

Play satelites to bounty builders like BB33,BB44,BB109 and so on. They are softer, you can make $ more easily and you get used to higher buyins and level of play. At least works for me.
