Hello all,

Currently getting back into poker after a long hiatus.

What would you suggest as a "starter pack" for online poker? i.e. HUD that doesn't cost a bunch up front (don't want to invest $100 into HM2 immediately), charts/graphs, courses online to take, some books, etc.

I plan on starting out with $250 in a couple of weeks and setting small goals (1,000, then 2,500, then 5,000, etc.)

I make plenty of money in the job I'm in right now, but I'm interested in getting back into it as a side hobby. My BR is higher than the amount I'm depositing, it's just a matter of setting goals/progress check points.

Thanks in advance.

JP

Perhaps think about dialing it back a bit from this post from last month. Get your feet wet at 2NL/4NL before putting BR at risk at higher levels. Games are probably tougher than when you took your hiatus.

Thanks King, I'll take the advice and look at the tracking program/HUD.

Get a hud - hm2 has a small stakes version.
Get a subscription to Run it once, the cheap one will do just fine in the beginning.
For books I thought harrington on online cash games was good. I also liked Sklanskys book on no limit.

Upswing poker is a very good tool for beginners if you have the money to subscribe to their program.
