I know it's late for a bump but I ran across this thread again and it occurred to me that there are actual classes you could take that would help you with poker. So for you and anyone esle wondering about this:
First, there are various levels and costs of poker coaching available. I pay $10 a month for floattheturn.com. That allows me to watch videos on various poker topics, and also the chance to ask the pro a question on a webinar. There are also online classroom situations where a pro teaches players, which costs more than just watching the videos.
Annother option might be to actually go to school. There are a lot of classes that might be applicable to poker: statistics, game theory and combinatorics are three that I can think of offhand. You can do a lot of this free online using the online Kahn Academy, or watching a free video of a game theory class taught at Harvard or Yale.
There are YouTube videos on things like how to play suited connectors. Pay coaching sites have a lot of free things that you can read or download.
