Question regarding seating on Pokerstars

Hello all,
Regarding the above, I have been curious about this for a while.
Sometimes I would sit down on fairly high stakes on Stars (just like 5/10 or 10/20 PLO).
Since I was unknown, I would notice that seats would immediately become reserved the moment I would click on one to sit down. These seats would get taken up by regs at that level who would clearly be bum hunting me since I was unknown.
My question is, how do these seats become reserved simultaneously the moment I click on one?
