The less solved a game is the more profitable it can be. The problem is that it will be much harder to learn, so this is kind of a tough question to answer. If you can crush NLH, try PLO next IMO.

If you can find enough of them online, fixed limit games like Stud, Stud8, Badugi or 2-7 Triple Draw are all less analyzed than NL or PL games.

I would suggest trying some and going with the one/s that you enjoy the most playing. I feel you need to take in consideration this factor as it will be more profitable in the long run picking a game that is joyable for yourself

If you are new to poker, the question would be which format will you lose the least at, rather than most profitable, but to answer your question seriously, if there WAS an obvious answer, then all the good players would gravitate towards it, and it then becomes unprofitable. Just pick a format you enjoy and play it.

If you're new the best value is MTTs in term of hands dealt for money lost.

Problem with those games is that it's very hard to get volume or to multi-table.

Live PLO probably the easiest to achieve the highest hourly.

Pretty sure large field MTTs are the most profitable in terms of ROI, but they're also the worst in terms of variance.
You might need to play 5000-10000 and going on 1000+ BI downswings is not abnormal.

SNGs have lower possible ROIs, but way less variance.
Slow speeds have the least variance.
Turbos have quite a bit.
Hypers are just horrible.
Also depends on field size of course.
ROI also steadily decreases as the speed increases. You can make some of it up with more volume, not sure how much.

Cash games probably have the lowest ROI, but they're the most consistent.
Downswings are not as bad, though you can still easily go in a 50 BI downswing in zoom games, especially if your win rate is not huge and it won't be since you're asking this question.

50 BI downswing is still a lot less than 1000 BI downswing!
These are both about the worst-case scenario for winning players.

In general, just play what you like since that'll end up making you more money simply because you enjoy it.
