OP - while you're right in that your 3b was too small (albeit not for the reasons you state), what was the thought process in deciding to 3b in the first place? What better hands are folding, what worse hands are calling, and what did you plan to do if a player you perceive to be tight 4 bets you having raised in first position?
At the time, there wasn't a lot of those thoughts running through my head. I just knew I had a good hand and only 2 other hands had me beat at the time. Not folding post flop was just stubbornness.
Now I would say the 3b would be more for an information gathering standpoint than anything else. I would think that the only worse hands calling would be TT/JJ and better hands would 4b or call.
Calling the 4b at the time was basically just "not wanting to lay down queens". Now, I would potentially still call the 4b that size due to the fact that I am almost certain of what they have in most cases and if my hand did hit I should be able to get their entire stack.
Again, I may be wrong on that thinking. So if I am, I would gladly accept some coaching here.
