Aiming to become a live low stakes pro is a super duper bad idea, take it from someone who was a pro (online) for like 6 years. Work on finding a career you like instead and play in the evenings to supplement income.
the 2/5 doesn't sound half bad

Squid is the man to listen to here. Check out the winrates thread in the live low stakes forum. Just from reading your comments I can confidently say you're not ready to be a professional. That's not to say you won't be eventually, but certainly not in the near future. Best of luck to you.

sure it is possible to make enough at those games there. but that doesnt mean you are able to do it. it is possible and many high jump over 6 feet but few that try will ever do it.

for most players just breaking even over time is a big accomplishment in raked games where ever they are.

from what i believe a great 5/10 player might make 150 to 200 a day in a 1/2 type game that was very juicy.

Crown is pretty soft. I'm currently beating it for $20 p/h @ 1/3 and looking to take shots at 2/5 very soon. I'm sure we've played together before.

Don't quit your job to play 1/3. Get a job, play 1/3, train online, take shots at 2/5 when and if ready.

Low stakes poker is a terrible way to make money in Australia, we have the highest minimum wage in the world. So any entry level job pays better and more reliably.

I have played 1/3 1 time overall and it was only my 2nd time playing this year, I also played 3 times last year there so I have barely even played live. Over how many hours do you beat the game at $20 per hour?

The short answer is no, you can't make a decent living grinding 1/3 at Crown. That's coming from someone who plays there regularly and has probably got one of the highest winrates in the room for those stakes (12BB/h over my last 1000 hrs).

You're much better off doing what I do which is work a day job then bumhunt a few nights a week for some icing on the cake. I save a set amount of money every week, and that plus any winnings go into building my roll. I've saved/won tens of thousands of dollars doing this over the last couple of years (unfortunately life always seems to get in the way and force me to start pretty much from scratch, but I digress...)

Everyone else is right, the rake is too high to make a living off, but in conjunction with a real job it is nonetheless a viable stepping stone to 2/5 and beyond.

If you can make 10 to 12 dollars an hour it would probably put you in the top 10% of players at that level. ARE you even in the top 10% ?
And even if you are in the top 10% is that really the kind of money you can live on ??
Alas even in the above example be prepared to go several weeks (due to variance) without a winning week.
Dont quit your day job.
Guys that CAN in Fact grind the 10 to 12 dollar an hour rate are most always guys that are just having fun and maybe supplementing a pension.
