theres this pot limit omaha game that has a $5 per hour rake and $10 to sit down initially. i will play for 2.5 hours. blinds are 0.50/$1. $50 min buyin. i have 140x the min buyin for poker playing.

going to cost me $30 to just play. is this beatable at all? 9 player table.

Honestly, start reading more and start posting less, you make a hell of a lot of threads, most of which could be answered by simple research. You've got half way there already - you know what it will cost you in rake and expenses, although unless you're factoring in petrol or other non-game related expenses, you've not done it right, so work out how many hands you intend to play (which really should be more than the time you say, with that rake structure you pay less the more you play, given it works out at $15 for an hour, $20 for two and progressively cheaper from there, especially if you have other fixed costs that don't change based on how long you play for), work out what bb/100 you need to break even and ask yourself if you can achieve that winrate. Have you even played PLO before? Can you beat it? Are you going to be hindered by only playing a relatively short session bankroll which in live PLO may be going all in pretty often? Only you can answer those, so do so

Edit - ignore the small session bankroll comment as I was reading that as you taking 140bb to the game

140 $50 buy ins not 140 Big blinds.

I haven't played much plo but i know getting in with bottom set is not going to be good playing 8 handed and AA with nothing else going for it post flop is going to lose.

Basically I'm just going to be playing nut hands (ace high flushes) trying to get money in on the turn with top trips as long as there is no flush or straight out there.

I'm just wondering should i buy-in for min or 100BB? I should be playing more hands 100BB deep. and if i win a stack i will be playing more hands 200BB deep or more.

The reason im only playing 2 and a half hours is because im playing a tournament. if i win at 20% in the tournament of 15 players I'm going to win $12. I've won it 3 times out of 7 I've played it and one 2nd.

with 15-22 players.

cash game could be potentially be more profitable but i like tournaments. like to find out about invite only home games too on other nights and get a bit of practice being a nit in plo for 2 and half hours pre to the tourny.

If you don’t know anything but basic preflop strategy, buy in for the min and try to get it all-in preflop with your strong hands.

Not sure how you are coming up with $30 to play 2.5 hours? $10 to sit + $5 for each hour should get you to $20 or $25 depending on when they charge time.

In most regular raked small stakes PLO games, max rake is reached (almost) every hand, so $20 equals winning 4 hands with a $5 max rake or 1 hand with a $20 max rake.

Time charge obviously favors loose players and hurts nut peddlers. In a good game with lots of loose passive calling stations, you might only get 20 hours in per hour maybe even less.
