Congrats on the great post. I agree with others who said that progression & career advice is a good change from simply posting hand results.

I was very surprised how important rakeback when moving up.

This reason alone is the main thing about why I'm still a begininner. I always see, to try and take $100 and go play $50 nl 6max. I'm going to take these words to heart and try and work on that and become at worst a moderate winning player.

So you got 5dollars for free and made... a million? How is this possible man, I had to fix multiple leaks and several deposits before becoming solid. How can you just.. take 5 bucks and go crazy? Can you please say how long it took you to make the different money?

Pooh-bah recommends the Law School Dropout's Poker blog and reading it all the way through. I actually got really excited about reading something like this because the guy writing it is obviously intelligent and seems to have his life together outside of poker...

For some reason I can't access the earlier archives on this site. Is that just me? Does anyone know what's up with the blog? If not, does anyone have any other recommendations for a similar type inspiring blog for someone who is considering trying to balance poker with their 'normal' life and goals.

Thanks

I played fake money until I was a solid winner. The micro-limit games were not much harder than play money, so I was able to start out as an immediate winner, and I built it very slowly from there.

I put it on the shelf some time ago. There is only so much time per week I can dedicate to poker without going nuts, so I ended up spending more time playing, and less time on side projects. It has paid off well, although I have sacrificed learning new, non-NLHE skills.

With as many people that got free money (especially a few years ago before uigea).. you're bound to hear a fair number of stories of people that got the money and did really well with it. You just aren't going to really hear any stories of people that got the money and busted it.. and there are waaaaaay more of those types of people.
