Only two poker rooms are working for me, PlayWPT and WSOP. Tried many other sites, but they either don't allow US players, or don't seem to fully install. My main problem that I'm having is that I can't seem to get Holdem Indicator to work with these two poker sites. It just continually 'searches' for a valid room, regardless of which order I start the site or software.

I'm looking for a simple automatic odds calculator that is a bit more accurate than the built-in one that WSOP provides, or a site that does work with Holdem Indicator. I realize it's generally better to learn the odds without a crutch, but I'm not looking to become a poker wizard, I'm just an old man trying to have fun, and minimize my own stupid mistakes.

Sorry, but you guys said lame questions were allowed in this thread.

Thanks for the response. I just scanned all 33 pages of that thread and found little help, but I'll post a question over there.

Try using the Search This Thread tool.
"WPT" or "WSOP" might get you an answer that you missed during your skim.

Thanks again. Will do.

EDIT: Yeah, not much help, but a couple years ago one person mentioned it worked on WSOP. I posted my question over there and will wait.

Well, I posted on that thread and after a couple weeks was simply told that it is illegal to use Holdem Indicator on WSOP. I don't care about WSOP or Holdem Indicator specifically, and have absolutely no need to log opponents statistics. I only mentioned those sites and software because I live in Washington state and can't seem to find any other play money poker rooms or auto odds calculators.

Let me modify my original question. Are there any sites available to Washington residents that allow the use of a simple automatic odds calculator? And likewise, is there a simple odds calculator (without the opponent data mining) that can read the currently dealt cards that isn't illegal to use with most poker sites?

I understand that the best solution for most people is to actually learn or memorize the odds tables. Unfortunately I had a stroke last year that wiped out my short term memory, but I still enjoy poker. In my case, a crutch like an odds calculator is just to help me have a little more fun than constantly making really stupid mistakes, even at the play tables.

Seriously you'll be fine with the rule of 2 and 4. Odds seem so important when you start but approximations work just fine.

mogur, make your own 4_2 chart and keep it handy when playing. Absolutely simpliest and easiest way to go about doing what you want.

I moved out of WA a few months ago. Felony to play online poker for money. It is so bad that Poker Stars stopped offering Play Money tables for WA residents.

Thank you, will do. Now I feel a bit anal, but thanks for pointing out that taking the odds too literately tends to ruin the fun.

And thank you, King Spew, for your patience and advice. I stopped playing online poker when they tightened up the laws years ago. But it was so much fun, I tried to get back into it recently. I couldn't figure out why everyone was talking about rooms and software that doesn't seem available to me. Washington sucks for that. Appreciate you cluing me in. I'll just plink around the two available rooms and be happy I can play at all.
