I was wondering in 2NL if you could get away with not 3betting light, likewise will my opponents be 3 betting light?

It depends on the opponents, and your idea of "3-betting light". If you are thinking along the lines of "His opening range on the button is pretty wide, so I'll raise him with 87s", this is not something your opponents will do. They will think more along the lines of "Wow, AQo is pretty strong hand, let's raise that." So, yes, they will 3-bet kind of light, but for all the wrong reasons. Similarly I'd refrain from 3-betting light myself. Save that for NL50.

SnG Wiz is good for practicing ICM (+EV shove/fold) situations. Tourney Manager is good for tracking your SnG stats.

I'd say anything above 5ptbb/100 would be pretty good. As for crushing... maybe 10ptbb/100? And "long enough sample" would be something like 60-80k.

A fish limps in from early position, you're in middle position. You raise hoping to see a flop in position with just you and the fish.

Also works if a weak player openraises, and you 3b to isolate.

(bets+raises) / calls.

note that checks and folds do not enter into the equation, so you can have a high aggression factor by being weak, not necessarily aggressive.

What does it mean when people say 'in before' something? I read this a lot and can never seem to get why it is said.

I'd like to add something here if you don't mind, please feel free to elaborate or bash my theories. I'm trying to touch on why we isolate.

The basic strategy I've been using is isolating weak players with cards that make good tp type hands and calling behind with cards that play well multi-way, like low to mid pp's and sc's. This is also assuming you're in a game where you don't need to balance your range, and the table will allow you to play like this and still pay you off when you hit, like most micro tables. There are other factors as well, but this is it in a nutshell.

People are just trying to be funny. The first time I came across this term was when someone would start a thread not worth starting, and someone would reply with "In before lock". It's a phrase not just associated with 2p2, but since this forum often seems to come up with witty and unique meme's, it has transformed into all sorts of variations.

So, in the spirit of good fun...

In before CMAR directs you to the "Read This First" FAQ sticky

What's the "It's over 9000" joke about?

Edit: This is a daft question but I'm still kinda curious.

That is strange and doesn't make sense. IIRC, it doesn't follow you to new tables of an MTT either.

should you be playing cap games any differently from regular nl? tighten up range?
***** Official Dumb Questions Thread **** Quote

Cap games basically just lower your effective stack size, and you should play accordingly. How to play with a lower effective stacksize depends on many factors, of course, such as how many bbs it actually is.

Probably more important in tournaments than cash games, but applies to both.
