Depends on position, generally raise. Don't disgrace an ace*.

As this is BQ I'll note that this sentence is a (poor) joke.

What's the best game to start with for capital preservation if you're starting with $20? I'm in an odd/complicated relationship situation where I can't deposit anymore if I bust it. I'm willing to learn any game but I'm not sure if some of them can be beat at the micro stakes because of the rake (is limit hold'em for instance beatable at the $0.02/$0.04 level?).

Freerolls?

Lots of sites give away €x free these days, though not sure which allow that for Canada.

Also, unibet-ad as usual: NL4 rake is the lowest there of any site (about 25% the level at iPoker for example), and a bit less than the amount raked in bb/100 at other stakes.

Freerolls are what I've been playing and the source for the initial $20 but I'm getting really burnt out playing them since each one can last 3-4 hours and they don't really run that often. I would prefer something less time consuming like cash or maybe SNG's but am willing to try any game at this point so I don't have to play a bunch of freerolls with huge fields again.

Any suggestion for the tourneys on Pstars? And what would be a good SNG book to start studying? Harrington on hold'em series then Moshman book?

Find an ICM training program and spend all your time on that.

What does it mean when someone says "pokerstars has a muck". "Sites like seals with clubs do not"?

Hi all,

People often talk about the top percentage of starting hands in hold em. Are there any charts available online going through the hands or are people working it out themselves?

Apologies if posted in wrong place (still new)

Read this:

Stay around for the follow-up posts, especially the fourth post.

Note: PokerStove is no longer available, it has been replaced by Equilab.

1) What it when someone 'freerolls' in a hand?

2) Where does MU stands for? It is when someone sells a share of his tourney

1) Where they are guaranteed at least to chop the pot, but also have an additional draw which means they would scoop. AFAIK it's mostly used to refer to O8, then PLO, and least commonly used to refer to NLHE.

2) Either makeup (an amount over a longer-term stake which the stakee is down and so needs to make up before they can earn any money for themselves), or markup (a percentage at which shares of a tournament are sold above face value - intended to reflect the fact that the person selling expects to have a significant edge - for instance, if I sell a $100 tourney at 1.02 markup, 10% will cost $10.20).

Lets assume we 100% know that we are behind OTF and our equity is solely based on the flush making it home, and when it does, we always win. So villain shoves and he gives us the exact pot odds to call the shove.

So calling is +-0 EV, so if we know that villain is never ever bluffing here and we always are behind, isn't calling or folding actually equal EV. When we fold, we only lose the chips already in the pot so folding is a 0 EV choice.

So isn't folding the "better" option here as it makes variance lower?

Yes. But that's way less fun. Also, I think it's almost always beneficial to have a gambly image.
