I started with No-Limit Hold'Em 6-max SNGs. When I had a bit of a bankroll I moved to 6-max cashgames. It will be different for everybody. Probably learn a bit of NL before learning PLO, though.

I've had HEM for a while now and find it useful, but I'm not sure what I should be looking at specifically (which stats) when playing uNL25. I know what VPIP/PFR/AF mean, but how do I better interpret the values to deduce my opponents' range/tendencies? I've looked in the FAQs but can't find information on this.

Thanks for your help

What affects VPIP? Isn't money always going into the pot voluntarily except for blinds?

Very broad question. Suppose some plays 40/0. Enter a 40% range in PokerStove. This is the range (more or less) this player will limp-call preflop.

Now suppose someone plays 40/10. Enter a 10% range into PokerStove. This is what that player will raise, he will limp-call the other 30%.

Once the flop comes down you will have an idea of how hard it hits his range. Of course, how this player will play after the flop is hard to say. Generally, a player that plays passively before the flop will continue playing passively after the flop. Aggression Factor will give you a sense of that.

So, like, VPIP just really means the percentage of hands somebody plays?

Anybody got a link to good threads on accumulating VPPs and spending VPPs @ Pokerstars? I'm looking for best practice advices. Right now I'm at Goldstar and getting trolled for it. I don't really get 100% why and would like to learn. At the same time I spew FPPs all over the place with no grand plan in mind, but I kinda think I should have...

There must be some good pointers around on 2+2 on this issue. (Search function is M.I.A obv)...

In regards to aggression factor, what kind of number means an aggressive player? Also, besides generalised passivity/aggression, what else can it tell you?

If, for example, someone has stats like 17/8/8, is there a huge difference in their playstyle to someone with 17/8/5? I've read definitions on what aggression factor is but it's still a bit murky to me as to its importance/relevance.

Aggression factor is (bets + raises) / (calls).

Some ballpark estimates:

An aggression factor of 4 or higher is very aggressive.
An aggression factor between 2 and 4 is normal aggression.
An aggression factor between 1 and 2 is somewhat passive.
An aggression factor of lower than 1 is very passive/calling station.

I personally don't use aggression factor in my HUD. I find it a very misleading stat, which only means something in relation to other stats. It also needs a lot of hands to converge to something meaningful.

What does it mean when someone with an AF of 5 check-raises you, and you have top-pair? Maybe he just folds his mediocre hands a lot and plays the top of his range very aggressively. Or maybe he bluffs a lot. Who knows? You won't be able to tell just by looking at his AF.

I've been playing on a different PC without Pokertracker for the last couple of weeks.

Q1. Will pokertracker update my winrate and other stats when I move back to the PC I have it installed on?

Q2. If the anwser to the above question is 'no' is there a way of getting the PokerTracker I have on my regular PC to find or receive this info?

While true, you should also be aware that it is not uncommon for solid, winning players to have 1k game breakeven stretches. SNGs have lots of variance.

All the videos I've seen on youtube are generally bad, so I can't help you there. I can say a paid subscription to deucescracked has been a great investment for me that I would recommend to beginners who can afford it.

1. No. All that information is calculated based on the hands imported into Pokertracker on that computer. If you don't transfer your hands to your regular PC, it will have no way of accounting for those hands.

2. Sure. You just need some way of getting the hands on your current PC on to your regular PC, and then import them. I would recommend checking out the Pokertracker sponsored forum. I'm sure there are a million threads on this already if you run a search.

I'm not sure how current the information is, but you can check out fpppro.com.

But really, trolls gonna troll. Other people's opinion of your VIP status is hardly something to concern yourself with. If anything, the fact that they are so concerned with your VIP level that it is worth their time to troll you on the internet about it is kind of funny, IMO.
