Say you have a draw to the nut flush. You hold 2 clubs and there are 2 on the board on the turn. You have 9 outs out of 46 unseen cards, or a 5-1 chance of making your hand.

Now, there is $80 in the pot. Villain acts first and bets $10. It costs you $10 to win $90 (80 + the $10 bet), giving you pot odds of 9-1, well over the odds to make your hand, so it's an easy call. However, if Villain had bet $40 you now have to call $40 to win $120, giving you odds of 3-1 which is below the 5-1 odds of making your hand.

You pay rake in SnGs upfront. In a $1.00 + $0.20 SnG, the $0.20 goes to the rake, the rest is the prize money.

hey, i play all SNGs (about 100 a week)---i've never explored rakeback. Does it work for stars SNGs, and can anyone point me towards the right resources?

No, stars doesn't have rakeback. They just used the VIP program.

Platinum Star is pretty good rakeback. If you play enough to get Platinum I would still play on Stars...if not maybe somewhere else would be better

What are you looking for exactly? There are aspects of probability touched on in various FAQs and stickies in various forums throughout 2+2. There is no dedicated probability FAQ.

I have a stupid question:

Why do dealers tap tokes on the table? I win a pot, tip the dealer, and she always raps it edgewise against the table before putting it in her toke box.

To make it clear to everyone (including cameras) she's dropping a toke. And to verify it's coming not from a pot or someone's stack. Or that the toke doesn't go somewhere it's not supposed to (her pocket, the tray, a stack).

The "Insert Link" button is in the line of icons above the text box you enter your post into. It's to the right of the big A.

Not sure if you already fixed this but you did it wrong. You have 9 outs of the 46 unseen cards. You don't divide the unseen cards by your outs. You divide the number of cards that don't make your hand by your outs. So 46 - 9 = 37 cards that don't make your hand. 37 / 9 = 4:1 odds against you.

I have two questions.

First, how do I calculate how many FPP's I get?

Second, where do I get a poker script to bet 3/4 of the pot?

Thx

1. What is AC?

2. When someone goes all in and two other people check it down, why is it bad for the person who went all in?

1. Air conditioning/Atlantic City

2. Because he's playing against 2 players rather than 1 (assuming one bets and the other folds)

hey cry me a river, i was reading harringtions cash book. just wondering do employ his tactic of randomizing checks, bets and raises. (seems tedious to me, especially if you MT) excluding when you have monsters and the deck crippled. i mean do players at 50nl even notice you limp K's pref? i doubt it. is this a tactic better suited for higher levels.?

also whats better holdem manager or poker tracker?

thanks

Hi, I never play cash but my friend is starting and I have a few basic questions --- what is the standard bankroll requirement? Looks like 20 buyins ... How is that affected for shortstacking? Also, can someone give a link to a good thread on basic shortstacking theory? Thanks alot!

Let's say the short stack has AT. Flop is T62. The other two players have 99 and 67s. The player with 99 bets pot. The player with 67s folds. Turn is a Q, river is a 7. The short stack has the best hand and triples up. If the player with 99 had just checked it down, the player with 67s would have hit two pair and the short stack would have been knocked out.

OTOH, if the player with 67s bet, the 99 might have folded. If a 9 comes on the river instead of the 7, then it's the same result. If both players stay in the hand, there's more chance someone will catch up and knock the short stack out.

I can probably count the number of times I've limped KK/AA on the fingers of one foot. I don't really randomize except I'll occasionally take a non-standard line against a reg if we know each other well. I also try to randomize my preflop EP play with hands like 33 or 78s a little bit.

Otherwise, IMHO, messing around with non-standard lines without good cause up to 100NL just winds up costing you money. At 200NL and especially 400NL and beyond you're playing against so many good regs you need to open things up. But below that, fancy play syndrome is a serious impediment.

Which isn't to say you shouldn't tailor your play to your opponent or situation (ie; run over weak-tighties, value bet stations, trap LAGs) or exploit a certain player's specific tendencies. I'm talking about doing random **** just for the sake of being random.

PT3 is still a work in progress (far as I know, I switched back to PT2 a few weeks ago and haven't really kept up with developments). Right now HM is probably better, in future PT3 should hopefully become better.

I compensate by taking their money ~85% of the time when they call my aces with 84o.
