Is limping low pocket pairs for set value in full ring uNL very profitable? I'd imagine it becomes less and less as you go up in stakes.

It's an unusual play for a solid player. Checking to the raiser is the much more common play.

Normally, if you like the flop out of position, you would check and let the preflop raiser act. On most boards, most preflop raisers will bet, so you at least get that bet into the pot before your action. If you really like the flop, you might checkraise, or check and call to minimize the amount of information given to player A.

If you're referring to a donk bet, it's when a player oop leads into another player who is ip that has the betting initiative.

I'd like to thank for all the answers. They've really helped me. But let me take this subject further and make another question related.
In Super Sysytem, Doyle says that he doesn't like to check-raise/check-call a good hand like trips when there was a raiser preflop and he just called. He likes to take the lead and bet ("lead into the raiser", as he says), justifying that an overbet to the pot would look like a steal attempt and if the raiser had what he represented (like a big pair), there was a good chance that he would move in on him. Is that bet an donkey bet?

yep.

(nobody really says donkey bet -- they shorten it to donk bet or just donk, as in "doyle likes to donk flopped trips").

be careful reading super system. it was written a long time ago about games that were very different from what you'll be playing in. For example, those games were typically extremely deep -- no buyin limits -- with like 1000bb or even more. Also, that move is designed to be deceptive, representing weakness. These guys liked to challenge each other a lot, so a donk bet in that context has a lot of 2nd and 3rd level implications. Also, Doyle played a very aggressive style, so he could expect to be played back at in a situation like this, because he might also bluff with a draw or nothing at all.

Donk bets are not automatically bad, it's just a name.

Donk bets are not automatically bad, however, the vast majority of the time when you see them its a terrible play which is why the name "donk bet".

A donk bet and a stop & go are essentially the same thing. But the intent and thinking is completely different.

Does anyone know if any online pokerroom offers play money heads-up tables in other games than Hold'em? I'd like to practice heads-up play in PLO and mixed games but I don't want to jump right in to cash games to play heads-up.

hi,

can someone please link me some big tilings vs cascading threads? I used search, but didnt find anything and this forum is just way too massive. I didnt find it in FAQ, but I just looked over the topics.

Im playing 4 tables 6max cash games. I need to buy notebook and for various reason Im preferring small netbook. Add HUD to that formula and its obvious that I will need to learn to play with cascading.
The thing is, Im used to play tiled tables. And most importantly: my intention is to get better and move up and I dont know if making reads/plays is as easy with cascaded tables as with tiled. Isnt it waay too easy to mix up tables and forget whose is that read you made. Isnt it harder to keep that overall sense of whats going on on different tables?

I just need to clarify that before deciding to buy that netbook. Because I would be probably willing to suck it up and buy 15,4, if it were to help me.

I'm currently running about 5Bi below EV on my poker tracker graph, is this normal? and if so, i assume the cards will come and the luck will change to help me within time!

this is over a sample of 8k hands at nl10, i have just moved up for the second time

There are some issues with the current EV graph. Having said that, all it means is that you are below EV. It does not mean you will not win. Part of my graph showed that I ran +EV during my last session when I dropped 18 big bets, in that case it only meant that I lost less money than normal - but I still lost. If you feel your game is solid, don't worry about it too much. Certainly look at other things in addition to the graph before making changes to your game.

If you need more info, there is a cool subforum here that is regularly checked by PT3 employees : http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/114/pokertracker/

Also, you might want to see : http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/sh...34&postcount=2

Good luck on the felt !

number of hands/vpip/pfr/af are the standard stats most people use as a starter. then it's really up to you as to what you have on there.

other common ones are 3bet%/fold to 3bet/attempt to steal/fold to steal

don;'t forget pretty much all the stats you need are quickly available by clicking on the stats field and the pop up shows almost everything you need broken down by street.

A great place to start would be the post directly above yours, which provides links served up on a silver platter.

Stupid question of the day!

OK -- I see that there is a way to convert hand histories to forum lingo format and it's pretty dank. BUT Is there a way to convert a hand thats posted in the forum BACK to a standard hand history so that universal hand replayer will play it back. It's great reading these hand descriptions, but if I could click it in to the hand player and 'watch' the action that would be groovy too.

Of course, I need to get in the habbit of playing hands in my mind. Reading the play by play in the forums does help build your own 'mental' universal hand replayer.

Hi,

I have a dumb question: I noticed there are some threads here on 2p2 forums that are labeled "NC Thread" -- what does that mean? Is it only for people from North Carolina? People with no clue? or Those with no class?

Please help... this has been bugging me all day!
