prolly just your connection. are you playing on wifi? if so try just plugging in your network cable and see if that fixes the problem. if it does it's prolly your router. try rebooting it or restoring the factory settings.

do you have problems with anything else over the internet or just ps?

sorry best i can do, i'm no IT expert!

The same page where you watch the videos has multiple download links to the bottom right of the video. You just click on them.

I started playing poker online about 3 weeks ago. I've been playing at the lowest stakes, 2NL on PS. I'm struggling quite a bit though. I started with $50 and after playing about 8,000 hands I currently have $50.28 in my account. I was down to $35 at one point and was thinking of just cashing out, because the only thing I was learning was how to lose money quickly. I somehow managed to grind back up to $50 which is where I am right now.

I am just wondering, as I am pretty much a complete beginner, should I even be playing in cash games? I see a lot of people talking about free-rolls and low buy in tournaments. Are freerolls considered to be softer or something?

Also what does broadway mean in poker?

Welcome to poker and this forum.

Broadway is quite simply a nickname for the highest straight. A-K-Q-J-T.

Freerolls are undoubtedly soft and are by definition +EV (aka, you are expected to make money over time). But depending on your financial situation, they can be a major waste of time. 2nl is also very soft in its own right. Some people prefer tournaments and others prefer cash games. I suggest you keep at 2nl. You've shown some recent success and you have enough money in your account to withstand the inevitable swings from luck. Try and use this forum to improve your game and you'll be a winner.

I was just wondering how pokertableratings.com are able to produce a 'table finder' that shows vpip and pfr statistics, when datamining is prohibited on sites like pokerstars. How are they able to give realtime stats like this? And how accurate are they?

Much appreciated.

Is there a proper sub-forum or thread where I can throw up a flag and see if there are any 2+2ers in my area? I'm from small town Canada so I doubt I'll get any hits, but thought it was worth a shot.

Cheers

www.craigslist.com

The only real option is the LC thread in whatever forum(s) you frequent.

Ok here is a dumb question.

Is sng grinding more suited for a "scared money" player than cash games ? It seems that a tourney environment feels more safe than a cash table. I know poker is not for scared players, but bare with me.

In a sense that you know exactly how much you are willing to lose each session. That does bring some people a certain peace. They can 'budget' poker.

I have the opposite opinion. I realize that swings in tournaments are more dramatic than in a cash game of a similar bankroll requirement. So I feel more 'scared' playing a tournament in that sense.

I find that the added abstraction of playing with tournament chips instead of cash chips is helpful in promoting calmness and preventing tilt. However, at the same time as Bacon noted, it's pretty common to lose several SNGs in a row which can look a lot more dramatic on your bankroll than a cash game.

The best solution all around if this is an issue is to play over-rolled, regardless of whether you're playing cash or SNGs.
