LDO = "like, duh, obviously", usually meant humorously.

Lt and Gt are probably L-table and G-table (whatever L and G means), but they're not something I've heard. Poker pundits like to invent acronyms.

What is cold calling, and why should I care ? After seeing a thread here about how the biggest leak many beginners (such as myself) have is cold calling, I searched and found plenty of thread *about* cold calling, without finding out what cold calling actually *is*. Can someone please explain this to me ?

preflop, it means somebody raises, and you call that raise:

blinds post $.50 and $1, UTG folds, MP raises to $2, you call $2 from the cutoff. That's a cold call

postflop, there is a raise and a reraise, and you call the reraise.

people who raise are making a fairly unambiguous show of strength, especially against multiple opponents. You should be thinking about raising in this situation if you are very strong, and folding if you are not. Many beginners tend to call and simply hope that the raiser AND original better are both bluffing, or that their hand gets better. Remember also that cold-calling is usually not closing the action, so there is the possibility you'll have to pay even more to continue with the hand.

i've got the same problem. for example, i was looking through someones 'Well' and they said thats Pokey's strategy threads where good so i put his name in 'Search' but couldn't see any threads started by him, only threads with his name mentioned in them. So my Q is how do i find posters and their profiles so i can see what threads they've started etc.

one way is to click on their name and select "find more posts by..." or "find threads started by..."

use the "advanced search" function -- when you click on "search", look at the bottom of the popup for the link.

Where do people play heads up tables? I couldn't find any on PokerStars. Or is the HU forum for people playing hu in certain situations, not at a table exclusively for HU?

There are HU tables and HU SNGs on Stars. Check your filters, etc.

find the hand you want in the bottom window of the 'Hands' tab. double click it to open a pop up window detailing the hand further. you will see a tab here called hand history. click that and you will see the text file for that hand. then you can just copy and paste it.

What I'm really wondering is if Carbon has 2NL (.01/.02)?

as far as i know it's specific to tourney play and is usually in the first few rounds or so. it's either to do with the tourney structure or maybe specific to what denomination chips the casino has. i might be wrong though

BBV is beats, brags and varience, a forum in 2+2. BBV4life is spin-off from that. venture in to it at your own risk

Yes.

A 2.5/5 game would need $.50 chips.

Anybody know a good "official" rule book for poker online or in print (if there is such a thing)? No Limit Hold Em, in particular.

Question about rules: last night in a tournament, blinds were 200/400. Preflop, under the gun only had 500 left and went all in. The question is whether next players have the option of calling the 500 or must they raise to 800 and create a side pot? Some players thought the bet was frozen at 500 while others thought subsequent players had the option of either calling the 500 or raising to 800 or more.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Everyone has the option of either just calling or raising. Minimum raise would be to T$900 (T$500+T$400).

Ok, here's my dumb question.

When someone says something like

"Play 200NL when you're ok betting your stack on a draw"

What does "a draw" mean? You drew a pair?

when you're on a draw it means you don't necessarily have a made hand but will stay in the pot because some cards to come will complete that draw. you can draw to anything, a straight a flush and so on.

so if you AK and the board is 853, you are drawing to the nut flush.
