I have never played those, but many in these forums use 10,000 hands as the minimum sample size to get an idea whether or not you're a winning player.

If you win 60% of your games for a 1000 games the chance of being a loser are near 0. In reality those winrates don't happen. If you include rake you need a higher than 50% winrate to breakeven in the first place.

about 35000 games.
no you need to win 950 out of 1000 games to be considered good.

What's the recommended minimum buy-ins for PKOs? I feel like the BRM for these can be looser because of the bounties and their value. What BRM do you follow for regular MTTs and PKOs? Are they the same?

IMO (and that of other long time 2+2 posters), you do not have a minimum buy-in bankroll for ANY type of poker if you are not a professional.

You have a budget.

The only constraint you may have to consider is: the ease of depositing. Back when I was playing online a bunch, it was difficult to get money onto the sites. So I kept a larger than necessary roll online....and never made a deposit.

I have moderate difficulty in depositing which is why I'm trying to stretch my bankroll as much as I can. Also, dreams of going pro, you know, the usual; the advantage is I live in a low cost of living country where I can make $1000 a month and be better off than 75% of the population. So far I've been following Jennifear's bankroll recommendations (I hear following 10 year old posts is +EV) but PKOs weren't around back then so I wanted a modern opinion on the matter. I would like to attempt treating my bankroll as if I was a professional player even if it isn't my main source of income right now.

Put on as much as you can afford.... if depositing is difficult. The other side of the coin suggests depositing as much as you can afford to lose.....not just from your play. There are still sites that may be considered as "shaky".

Really doesn't make much sense to me to do anything else.

Whilst I agree with this keep an absolute minimum of cash on poker sites is a good rule of thumb. If your roll is 10k for example and you play to play 100nl you should only really have 3-5k on the site.

Alright this is a REALLY dumb question.

Im playing live cash for the first time in a casino on friday (1/3)

When I get my chips from the cage/dealer, what chip denominations should I get? mostly $5's? whats the best way?

Simple answer is:

If dealer, just tell him how much.

If cage, declare stakes and how much.

Cage/dealer knows what's going on.

First time at a casino I recommend you verbalize each action. Speak directly to the dealer.
"Call"
"Bet $25"
"Raise to total $85"
You don't have to.... but even say "Fold"....keeps you in the habit of verbalization.

Just to make this slightly more entertaining, instead of verbalizing "to the dealer", instead make direct and intense eye contact with the person to your immediate right when you verbalize. Completely ignore them elsewise, no matter what they say. If you're feeling frisky maybe also 3B them a little wider than everybody else.

I like to pop out of my seat, lean on top of the table and stare directly at the person I am 3 betting. Try to get my face as close as possible and directly say that I'm trying to intimidate them.

If something similar is done to me (someone starring me down) I like to open up the food menu and hide my face behind it.
It's all done in a comedic way so everyone has a giggle.
Clapping while dealer is counting the cards also makes it fun.

You should try staring down a player who is not in the hand while you ponder a river call. Tell him you see he's nervous. Then after you called act surprised another player still had cards.

This "discussion" is over. There is no trolling in this thread. This implies there are only helpful responses. Got it?

Ha. Really? I'm not familiar with this part of the site and I'm not even sure how I came to be reading posts in this thread in the first place. This response was completely unexpected.

My fault. Carry on.

Alright guys I am not a Poker player but I just have something important to say about PartyPoker most likely will apply to the rest of the industry but I cannot confirm.

Don't buy in to bonuses especially deposit bonuses. Basically they appear as bonuses and indeed are but you will end up paying more only to unlock it. Every time, guaranteed. Do the math and you will see.

Yeah we take money fast but give it slow.
Guys, we have people trying to launder money on these websites of course we are going to check on every single transaction.

No we do not have odds better for one player or another. Every single draw of a card, spin on a slot is a product of a veeery complex program called an RandomNumberGenerator. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Random_number_generation
Also we have 3rd party companies not payed by us with the sole purpose of ensuring that indeed this is random.
https://itechlabs.com/

The websites and applications are hard to navigate sometimes I know this is intentional design and it is applied by casinos as well. To be honest I cannot confirm that its by interion or bad design and programming skill.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9THLOo7WWoQ

So in conclusion I want to say please don't be pissed at Customer Service we do not have anything to do with this it's just a job to get by for students and poor families.

Best Regards,
Just another agent.

And last but not least working with India is hard sometimes.

It's okay man, only true degenerates get mad at the Customer service agents.
Don't be sad, it's a part of your job, suck it up and try to do your best everyday.
Cheers!

Thanks for reply! On the Internet I found a rating with sites where you can play for free. How can you trust such sites ? Is this really useful information or just native advertising of your partners ?

As an example, Poker Stars (available to most people) has free money tables. Try there first.

Started a home poker game and recently had a situation where by there was already a straight on the board after all 5 cards had been revealed (probably due to a badly shuffled deck) one player had Ace high and the other a pair of sevens, who wins in this situation? Straight + Ace High Card or Straight + Two of a Kind? Can you only use 5 cards? Thanks
