Variance is part of the deal with poker. Poker isn't about making money over a short period of time. When I sit down in January I'm hoping to have a good year. I keep track of months on my spreadsheets and it's interesting to see the ups and downs, but as long as I make money over the course of a year, I'm happy.

Just to give you an idea, at the beginning of 2017 I had $40 sitting on Juicy Stakes Poker and I decided to grind it up. It was a slow process, partly because I didn't play unless I had 100 buy-ins at that level, with the exception that I started playing by playing $1.10 tournaments. I moved up to $2.20 tournaments once my bankroll was over $220, $3.30s when my bankroll was over $330, etc. I had three negative months in 2017, but I was up for the year. When my bankroll was close to $700 I started playing the $6.60s

My first month playing $6.60s I added $300 to my bankroll The next month I lost that $300 and was right back to where I was when I started playing $6.60s. I decided to not play so many $6.60s for a while.

i see, i played several thousands of hands (small, i know) in 2/5nl on stars, and overall its a tough grind. guess i have to adjust to it

In the xx/yy/zz stats, I have VPIP and PFR in xx/yy and I know zz should be aggression but I'm not sure which stat it should be in pokertracker. One guide said fold to steal should be zz.

Talking in 3 way pot at home game.

Ok the flop:
Player A checks
Action is on player B
Player C says something like “you know you want a free card” trying to induce a check.

After the hand player A is mad at player C and says it was bad etiquette to talk there because it influenced player B decision.

It probably is but it's a home game so I wouldn't care too much

Does anyone know, roughly, the EV of aces and/or kings for, say, a 6bb winning player? I know this is impossible to determine but approx pls.

What about the icons in the second column (purple sad face, green circle with black right arrow)? What do the different icons in the second column mean?

No one really uses the icons....they don't have any meaning attached other than the obvious

The Stats AF and AFq seem like good stats to put on a hud but I'm unsure onntbe difference and how to incorporate them in a hud. As in how are you suppose to use the stats? what exactly does it show that.makes them useful tools to have?

Is there a way I can find out what the original payouts were on a tournament I played on Pokerstars? I know I can request tournament history but a deal was made 3 handed so I'm getting the adjusted prizes. Just trying to figure out some FT spots, knowing what the payout structure was would make my life a little easier.

There should be a percentage payout table somewhere on their website, you'll just need the number of players
