I was recently involved in a situation that has left me questioning my credibility as a poker player. My confidence has been crushed (seems like a legit poker shark would rather me "think" im good and have a chance) and i feel like an idiot although i cant help but think im right and that ENTIRE group of the same people that play every week are wrong. That seems almost impossible. Regardless, on a psychological level, im no longer considered a threat or a contender (even in my own mind).
So here's the very basic, very elementary situation and i apologize for every bit of money ive won in the, over 2 decades of playing lol.
The board: A
?
?
who cares: and irrelevant.
His hand: K
?
My hand: ?
?
(doesnt matter)
My seemingly obvious, possibly ignorant train of thought is: i have an Ace high flush...period. Im safe no matter what happens. At worst..split pot(not knowing his whole cards at the time)
The outcome: i lost, i pleaded my case very adamantly and i was informed of my ignorance of the "basic rules of poker" with a general consensus of "how dare this peasant challenge my mighty king" attitude.
Am i right or am i actually ignorant?
