Why is Stars the first answer people think of when it should normally be the last?

I don't live in Poland. Neither does the guy who responded. Seemed like a lazy answer based on that Stars is probably available in most places, but I won't recommend somewhere that's widely reported as having reducing rewards, declining CS, more and more pushes towards low skill high variance rake fests and, at least when I still played, the worst quality games anywhere. Also imo the worst software, but I know I'm in a minority on that. There's probably a local poker forum that he could look at which has better insights, I suggest he'd look there

Does anyone have any book suggestions for a complete neophyte whose goal is to make U. S. Federal minimum wage ($7.25/hour * 40 hours/week = $290/week) profit from playing (microstakes?) online/internet NLHE poker? I have found a bunch of threads on this forum that provides general tips/advice/guidance, but I am seeking a more structured/organized long-term reading format which I find are typically in the form of published books. I've already purchased certain books such as a few of David Sklansky's works and some others, but they are not specifically tailored towards (microstakes?) online/internet NLHE and I feel like while the theory might be nice to learn, there's a lot of extraneous information I won't be utilizing since I won't be playing professionally or for large stakes, either online or live.

This question gets asked over and over again here in Beginner's Questions...and probably this specific thread. So....you could go to the top of this page and using the Search This Thread tab, type in "Books" and hit enter. Likewise you can go to the main page of BQ forum and click the Search tab and do the same "Books" search.

Or you could look at the responses in your thread with the same exact question in Books and Publications forum here on 2+2

Either way, no one will likely go into much depth in this specific thread. At least you narrowed the focus to NLHE. That should help you as you research throughout 2+2. This "may" be a dumb question and you may feel that I didn't answer your question. My reply would be "No questions are too dumb...and here's the answer (to this particular question): Search....as you will get an amazing amount of coverage for your question.

Is there a standard with regards to determining a win rate? Like if my BB/100 is positive over 5,000 hands, is that significant, or would that be considered too few?

Again, just looking for a general rule-of-thumb or whatever. Thanks.

That's way, way too few - that's half a day's play for some people. It's better than losing but the variance is so large you can't draw any conclusions from it

So if that's too few then what's a good number?

You can never have a big enough number, but start by looking at six figures. That said, if you're ignoring the primary benefit of online by just single tabling then you probably never get there

sixfour has good advice. I would like to add my opinion that you will start to get an accurate look at your winrate at 50K hands...since you only one-table the online game.

My thinking is that multitablers will be playing by script more often...and likely folding many close decisions for the sake of expediency. When faced with two or more issues as the same time, a good multi player will usually fold hands that (to them at the moment) will realize the least amount of profit....among other reasons.

A good one-tabler has time and the ability to work through a situation and come up with a strategy that is the best (every single time?). Because of that thought-into-each-decision process.....wouldn't someone see earlier (than a MT player) whether their decisions are "good"?

But 5K simply is not enough hands.

I'm losing in red line at 6.25bb/100 over 8k hands. Is this enough to tell I'm probably losing in red line long term?

If I'm playing $5NL 6-max online and winning there, and go play llive 1/2 in Vegas, if I just treat EP as the first 3 seats past the blinds, HJ as the next 3, then cutoff and button as last two, and play my same game, will I likely do okay for a weekend of games?

I've recently moved to Nevada and so have started playing around with WSOP online, which apparently is one of the better online options here. As a former Pokerstars player, I'm actually pretty disappointed with the software... however my biggest issue is that NV regulations seem to make it difficult to automatically record hand histories and therefore build a database to study & improve from.

I'd appreciate any advice on a compatible pairing of tracking software and MTT games online so I can use these tools to work towards becoming a better player while living in NV. Thanks!

Is there a milestone stake online where games seem to get exponentially more difficult? I'm still in the micro's, so I'm obviously biased by where I'm playing, but while 10NL clearly has less morons than 2NL, it's not by a staggering margin.

I know its a silly question, but that's what this thread is for. Just curious if there's some community agreed upon stake where people consider the games to start to get "real".

OK this is a long one
Im reading a poker book and theres a question

Board: AdAhQc5c
Need to calculate win outs and chopping outs.
As expected to win there are 2 2s and to chop with 2 pair there are 3 Qs and 3 5s
Now the part i dont understand, It says to chop further the board can draw 4 Ks and 4 Js. I get the idea that this means theres a higher kicker than the Ten the villain has, but doesnt that mean that the Queen that is already on the board is doing the same thing?
So if i get a brick river like a 3h would we chop or does the villain get the pot?
