these days, 20-30% roi is considered solid, though it's likely possible to go up to 50% in 5$ tourneys due to them being very soft. So, 1-2$ per tourney.
As for solid sample, if you are talking about large field tournaments (like the ones on Stars), unfortunately you need a gigantic sample size for meaningful measurement of ROI, at least 10k games.
