When I view a tournament schedule, does NL 1B mean 1 buyin only?

Thanks

Give us some more context, this could easily mean day 1b

I have never heard of 1b meaning 1 buy in. As sies quatro mentioned above, if you have a large tournament with multiple flights, 1b could refer to the second day 1. 1a would be the first, 1c would be the third, etc.

Because I am bored, I will answer a question that you have not yet asked. What are the different types of tournaments that might be advertised?
Here are some other terms that might help

freezeout-no rebuys or re-entries

re-entries for the first x levels-If you get knocked out, you may re-enter the tournament. This means leaving the table, going back to the cashier, and paying another re-entry fee (rake and all). You will then be seated at the next available spot as an alternate.

rebuys for the first x levels-This format usually allows you to rebuy at any point that your stack is equal to or less than a starting stack. Sometimes the rebuys do not include rake. Rebuys are done at the table, and you keep your seat. Sometimes, there is an add-on at the end of the re-buy period. These tournaments can be very active and very high variance

bounty-In this tournament format, a portion of your buy in is given back to you in the form of a cashable bounty chip. Every time a player is knocked out, he surrenders his bounty chip to the person who knocks him out.

satellite-In this tournament format, you are usually playing for a buy in to a bigger tournament. The prize pool is divided into buy-ins for the bigger tournament (for example, if I am playing in a $100+$20 rake satellite for a $1500 entry fee, for every 15 entrants, the prize pool will gain one entry fee to the bigger tournament). Satellites play significantly differently than regular tournaments

These are the most common tournament formats I am familiar with. There are some less common ones like jack and jill, all-in or fold, survivor, knockout, all stacks forward, and best stack forward
