Re: NL10 to NL200 experiment - finding a way to beat each limit

Jack Wilcox was a professional poker player from Reading, UK. He was a successful $400NL and $600NL 6max NLHE player. He took shots at $1,000NL (mostly when the fish were around), as well as occasionally playing PLO.

Jack moved to Thailand with a group of other online poker players to for an extended holiday in early 2012. He died in a motorcycle accident on the 6th of February 2012, less than 3 weeks after arriving. He was 22 years old.

He also was a great coach... R.I.P

Re: NL10 to NL200 experiment - finding a way to beat each limit

Hi guys, for those of you you knew Jack or just fancy showing your appreciation there is a memorial tournamnet for him this weekend in his hometown, Reading UK. It's a 20 +2f/o and more about having a laugh sharing stories about him and having a good night out in his honour during/afterwards.

Full details can be found here
https://www.facebook.com/events/5055...49460/?fref=ts

Last year was a great success and we hope to better it!

Any questions just post on the fb group wall as I don't really use 2p2

Thanks

Rob

I didn't know he got into an accident. I remember talking to him when I was moving up myself. I just wanted to say, he was a cool guy.

RIP

Tragic story...this guy was going places in the poker world, and probably in the wider world as well. Lot of value in here for beginners.

Re: NL10 to NL200 experiment - finding a way to beat each limit

Here are 15 strategy articles written by Jack Wilcox:
  1. Calling From Blinds vs. A Steal
  2. Semi-Bluffing By Raising All In
  3. 3Betting Preflop In The Micro Stakes
  4. The Real Objective Of Poker
  5. Continuation Betting
  6. 4Betting Mathematics
  7. Check-Raising As A Bluff
  8. Attacking 3Bettors
  9. Floating The Flop
  10. Breaking Down Your Winrate
  11. Winning Money From Bad Players
  12. Playing Blind vs. Blind
  13. The Importance Of Position
  14. Relative Hand Strength
  15. 5 Tips To Improve Your Game

These were originally posted on HigherLevelPoker.com, which is the micro stakes training site he was working on before he died. It was a competitor to the likes of DeucesCracked and Cardrunners, but had a cheaper monthly membership fee of $10 compared to the standard $30 charged at other training sites.

I started hosting HigherLevelPoker.com after Jack died, and removed the membership wall so that all the videos could be watched for free. Eight years later the website still gets daily visitors, but not as much as it used to.

I'm in the process of upgrading the server the site is hosted on, but to keep it going would involve setting up the site on a new system. I'm pretty good with websites, but this one is written in Perl, and it's just going to cause me more problems than it's worth.

However, the strategy articles and some of the videos are good, so instead of taking the website offline completely I've transferred the content to my main strategy website. I've formatted and edited each of the articles in the process to give them the readability they deserve. They may have been written a few years ago, but the strategy is still relevant.

I'm going to continue hosting all the videos for download too. The coaches include:
  • Jack "Hoodlincs" Wilcox
  • Jonathan "thatssosick" Chan
  • Daniel "Keyser" Haase
  • Craig "crussty1" Russel
  • Kyle "Shipit2kg" Garner

I don't know if any of these coaches are still around, but just so you know, your work is still online.

I'm going to leave the site up for another week or so before taking it down. I've moved all the useful content to a new home though, so nothing will be lost apart from the old website design.

I hope you find the articles useful. Jack was a good player and a great coach.

Greg.
