I have been away from playing any poker whatsoever for several years. I was a beginning player when I started back then. I was wanting to know if you guys could suggest avenues for learning such as books, podcasts, training sites, or anything else. I appreciate your feedback!!!

Why do you want to learn?

You need to think about it more and give a better answer. I'll happily give you some info when you have. It really depends what you want out of poker. If you want to beat 5nl and have fun, do you want to play pub tournaments and improve your chances? do you want to beat your friends in your home games? Do you want to use tournament poker as an excuse to travel the world and become as profitable as possible?

If you want to become the best player you can possibly be at cash games I can suggest you lots of things that are expensive and probably never have a positive net result because very few people are that interested and put that much work in.

Do you want to crush 1knl and become rich and famous? Probably not worth the effort/reward.

I see your point! I am currently playing 5NL and low entry tournaments. I have always loved playing and have never put any serious time in learning the game or improving my understanding of it. I would love to say my goals would be to improve my game to move up to 10NL first and cash in tournaments. After that I would like to improve my game so that poker can be a compensating hobby, and maybe an excuse to travel a little.

It may help to describe what you currently know and how you think. best way to do that is to post some hand histories (only post up through the key decision, don't post the results, how the hand actually turned out is usually not relevant). this will help us understand how you think, and what you see when yo look at a a hand. From there, advice can be offered in terms of what you need to work on and how.
