Need some advise vs Pre-flop Aggressor at Live 1/2 Need some advise vs Pre-flop Aggressor at Live 1/2

While playing at local casino on Friday night, the player to my right was slowly getting run down by worse hands. I think he was stuck about $600 when he started raising almost (what felt like) 60% pre-flop.

I had been playing very tight before this, but had decided to start opening up a bit when this started. I was fairly card dead to begin with, so was not happy to call 6x-10x raises pre-flop with medium suited connectors and the like. Needless to say I just kept folding.

It did not matter what position this player was in. And on top of it all, he would still get 3-5 callers regularly. This was another factor in my continuing to fold.

My question is, was this the correct strategy on my part? If not, is there some guideline as to what hands I should have been calling with? He was not afraid to keep tossing out $20-30 as a c-bet each time either. And at least one player seemed to feel the need to keep him honest each hand.

This table was generally weak, but I was unable to take advantage most of the night d/t being what I felt was "card dead".

Thanks in advance for any input.

Once the player raised preflop, were there any callers?

If there were multiple callers, what I would do (I have done this a few times) is sit to his right. So when he raise big preflop and have multiple callers, shove all-in with a strong shoving range like you would in an mtt.

OP stated that "he would still get 3-5 callers regularly".

Not sure how he is supposed to shove all-in after multiple players called if he's sitting on the right of the action player and has to act before him preflop. Unless you are talking about limp/shoving?

If you know there are going to be 3-5 other callers but no 3bettors, you can call with all hands you would call with that you want to see a flop with 4-6 handed for that amount of money. If you don't get any hands you want to see a flop with multiway, you have to keep folding. But that's both boring and frustrating.

Player to right
3-5 callers to every flop.

Tighten up but when you come into the pot, do so with a big raise. Your goal is to get heads-up against a wide range.

(Also what was said above...you have odds to call many hands as well)
