My big pot of the night. Do you call? My big pot of the night. Do you call?

Live 1/2nl

3 limpers to me in the cutoff. I raise KQoff to 12. Button calls, blinds and limpers fold.

Flop k97 rainbow

I bet 20, button calls.

Turn 5 (still rainbow so no flushes available through the hand)

I bet 45, button raises to 100. I think for a sec and call.

River 2(complete brick). I check button shoves for 210. I have him covered barely.

I tank for a bit. I don't don't think he calls my preflop raise with 86. I don't think he has kk or ak cause he likely would've 3bet preflop. The only hands in his range that beat me are 55(probably would've folded that on the flop), 77, 99 and maybe k9 although I think a lot of people fold that to a preflop raise.

Do you guys like this call, do you ever fold here??

TIA

without a specific read that our opponent is very spewy or a complete fish, Im probably folding the river. In general, turn and river raises in live poker tend to be very nutted, even in pretty aggro games.

Ya I kinda felt like the right move was to fold to an unknown opponent. As I tanked and couldn't find a good part of his range that beat me. He was kinda trying to talk me into "your beat." And "well does two pair beat you?" He was an old guy, but not your typical nitty scared to lose money kinda old guy. He had been playing a lot of pots.

I would have folded on the turn raise.

Live $1/2 folks tend to play pretty straightforward, only making a few aggressive plays here and there - especially "old guys." To me that turn screams set or 2 pair. K9s / 97s is also definite BTN range. You mention he played a lot of pots, but you discount that he can have you crushed.

Fold and pick your battle on another hand.

I fold turn because if you don't, you're folding the river anyway when he shoves.

Fold turn.

Online I also x/c turn because turn betting TP on this dry board is making villains continuing range very strong. In a fishy environment with reads that villain will station weak cR@p fair enough to value bet the turn, but having done that the turn really becomes a pretty trivial fold when he raises.

also, people talking you into fold is usually a sign of strength, not weakness. As a general rule, when people talk about their hand, they tend to honest (it is easier to say the truth than to lie).

I don't don't think he calls my preflop raise with 86.
Famous last words.

Besides, what makes you think this is remotely true at 1/2 live? Not to mention that 77 and 99 are squarely in the range of a typical 1/2 live player.

Ya I was definitely more worried about a set than 86 or k9. These are the types of situations where I have leaked more money than anything else. I have trouble folding when I feel like I'm ahead. It just happened to work out tonight. My previous session I was playing 2/5 and this dude bluffed me off my overpair with a shove on a gutshot then showed. Raaaaa! That was still in my head when making this decision.

This guy in the 1/2 kq hand was playing kind of loose and spewy n had already bought in for his 3rd $300 within an orbit before this hand. Had it been a tighter old guy I would've folded the river for sure and maybe even the turn.
