I'm exclusively a NLHE guy currently but want to have a go at PLO. Any books, resources or threads that would be a good fit?

Cheers

Google "Tune in, bet pot, cash out" - it's a free e-book that's a good starter.

Also google "how to not suck at PLO the five commandments" - similar information presented in a different manner.

Lastly, www.omahaplanet.com has a lot of good strategy articles on it but you have to be willing to hunt for them and sort out the advanced advice from the beginner advice on your own.

From my own experience moving from NLHE to PLO:
1. Be ready for a game that's ten times as much FUN in PLO - I thought NLHE got boring after awhile but your adrenaline is always stimulated during a session of PLO.
2. Be ready for the sickest, most humiliating and debilitating SWINGS that you couldn't possibly imagine beforehand. In NLHE, you can get AA all in and be about an 80% favorite no matter what the other guy has. In PLO you can flop top set on what looks like a dry board only to find out you actually have about 41% equity against two villains.

Good luck!

Hwang's book is the place to start.

Beyond what has already been posted, tilt is a major issue in PLO. It has all the bankroll swallowing characteristics of NLHE combined with the inability to give improper odds for draws of limit HE. Therefore, you're going to have to sweat out draws through the entire hand if you are ahead. Bob Ciffafone's PLO book give one example on a turn where a player is in front against 3 villains and has one out on the river to win. Every other card in the deck meant he lost.

For a NL player, one early transition is that hand holding are devalued. Starting out, I'd be thinking that top set is like top pair, a straight is like a set and if the board pairs, you want to be wary about bottom FH.

I'm not a PLO player but position is very important, you need to relearn starting hands and when you draw, make it to the nuts.

A bad passive NLHE player who switches to PLO will think they always have some kind of a hand, because of getting 4 cards preflop and then having so many ways to connect to the flop. Those are the kind of people you want to play against but understand they will often find some ridiculous way to suck out on you.
