hey poker fam ive been playing NL for about 10 years and this is my first post on here. looking forward to this idk why its taken so long, wishing you all good luck on the felt and infinite abundance!

anyway sitting at WSOP's daily 3k r/a last night

blinds 8/4k ( i think 750 ante )

sitting on about 85k in the BB with KQoff

action folds to SB sitting on 80k.

i knew he was gonna ship with a weak ace and i couldnt help but call ( pokers such a mindf--- like how do i pick up on that lol.. force is strong ) he had A4 and flopped 235 lol

question here is - with 10 BB what would you do here with KQoff? with 20 people left and sitting on less than average..

also just a little about myself i live in reno and specialize in HU sit n go's, if anyone wants to get a match going here in reno or a house cash game/knows of any tourneys feel free and send me a message!

Hello and welcome to the forum!

With 10BB, SB is supposed to shove around 70% of hands from that spot. Calling off with KQo is as standard as it gets.

If you specialize in heads up SnGs, I would think you've pretty much memorized the 10bb Nash push-fold charts for BvB, which show that even K5o is a call if villain is jamming a Nash range. Villain is pushing with a lot more than just Ax. In a tourney with antes, KQ is a no-brainer call in every 10bb effective BvB situation, except for the money bubble or a major pay jump when several people have micro-stacks. (i.e. if there are huge ICM factors).

FWIW, it's 8- or 9-handed with antes, then you only need a bit more than 40% equity for this to be a break-even chipEV call, based on the pot odds. Even if villain's range was "any ace, any pair" (so you're never ahead), you've got almost 40% equity with KQ. As soon as he shoves wider than that (and almost everyone will be), it's clearly +EV. (I'd be jamming hands like T5s and T9o for example).

If you are considering folding KQo for 10bb wouldn't I be shooting myself in the foot for not shoving T5s? Actually if you fold hands like KQo I can pretty much shove any two random cards and make a profit.

It's never a stupid question if the answer leads to an answer that expands your knowledge.
