Got platinum star again this month.

Even though I put in hardly any volume in Feb/Mar I am still ahead of the pace for supernova by years end.

Re: June Beginners Bankroll Thread

Some days the fish just don't seem to bite, and some days they're throwing themselves into the net.
Saw some crazy play tonight - calling draws to, well, a pair I think.

Lol at the play here, what was SB doing spewing his stack away with air? Mind you, CO held his nerve because SB could have had a set:

PartyGaming - $0.02 NL - Holdem - 9 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 3

MP+1: $2.00
Hero (LP): $3.01
CO: $2.61
BTN: $1.65
SB: $2.08
BB: $2.00
UTG: $2.44
UTG+1: $1.91
MP: $3.39

SB posts SB $0.01, BB posts BB $0.02

Pre Flop: ($0.03) Hero has 9 8

fold, fold, fold, fold, fold, CO raises to $0.08, fold, SB calls $0.07, fold

Flop: ($0.18, 2 players) 6 4 J
SB checks, CO bets $0.18, SB raises to $0.36, CO calls $0.18

Turn: ($0.90, 2 players) 9
SB bets $0.44, CO calls $0.44

River: ($1.78, 2 players) J
SB bets $1.20 and is all-in, CO calls $1.20

Spoiler:

Managed to stack this fish, pity he only had 50bb. I didn't raise on the turn because I realised he would be pot commited on the river and was more likely to get his stack on a later street.

Re: June Beginners Bankroll Thread

I hate these kind of hands, and have become way more nitty with them as was losing too much when checking back thru my database.

As villain is basically unknown (looks laggyish) then I'd give them the benefit of the doubt here and fold. His betsizing on flop and turn both looks like value. If we checkraise turn villain will likely continue with everything that beats us (coz we dont fold overpairs do we!) so not sure we can confidently continue to river

Re: June Beginners Bankroll Thread

i like to 3 bet my medium PP when i'm in the blinds because i'll be oop come the flop, not sure if its a leak or not. I'm flatting anywhere else.

I'd be folding here though, we're beat by alot of hands here (any pair lower than ours, and obviously flushes and higher pairs) we're only beating a semi-bluff or air

Re: June Beginners Bankroll Thread

nismo, I think you did the right thing.
I'm not sure I'd ever 4 bet, but I may have with KK or AA.
QQ I'd have to think about it. CO's hand might not be so strong, and SB might have TT+, maybe less - I've seen villains 3bet with 55.
If you can take it down pre, I would.

Anyway, what do people say about people not bluffing at micros?
The table I was at earlier some of the villains seemed to think the best way to deal with a raise was to re-raise, almost every time.
In the hand below, I'd been observing MP+1, he seemed pretty solid and knew the basics. The other two villains were positionally unaware, didn't seem to have a clue about the basics.
Can't believe they'd go all in on the flop with a gutshot and ace high.

UTG+1's preflop play is pretty bad but he's got a GS + FD on flop - that's one of the best flops he could have wished for, I think his post-flop play is fine.

Yeah, you could be right, I suppose it's is preflop calling the 3bet which should be bad, right?

Personally, I wouldn't stack off on that draw, even if it's a good one.

Was kicking myself with this hand. Villains were loose aggro calling stations - I so nearly bet the flop, so nearly called the turn.

This villain had completed the SB when it was folded to them a few times. Then checked the flop and bet the turn when I checked behind with nothing.
One time I hit middle pair with 74o and called them down and they had nothing, so I knew he like to bluff with nothing at all.
Could maybe have got more value but I was happy to let him valuetown himself.
I would normally raise pre rather than call, don't know what made me call, but at least I'm mixing it up a bit.

Small update: I'm homeless!!

Not quite....but there's no site I want to play on atm. After hearing about the ipoker network going to split up I decided to take my money off Celeb poker and give up my 60% rakeback deal as I just didn't feel safe about the future of the site in this poker climate. I still have money on stars, but unless anything changed with VPP then i'm not especially interested. Otherwise i'll speak to some contacts and see what's on offer that isn't on merge or any other shady networks/skins.

I don't know if i could've gotten much more out of him. although he would probably call a turn bet. on the flop i was just hoping he had slow played a big pocket pair and that the board would pair. became pretty obvious that wasn't the case on the turn. got a little value on the river

Re: June Beginners Bankroll Thread

Another marginal losing session although I've just bumped it up to five tables whilst still feeling comfortable and with plenty of time, and I've just finished my exams so I should be able to get in plenty of volume over the coming weeks. This didn't seem to merit its own thread - are there enough whiffed overcards in villain's range here to justify the semi-bluff cbet? Clearly we're getting it in once raised? Villain is unknown but based on his buyin size, the fact that he posted OOP in the hand before and his raise size I assumed he was a fish:

PartyGaming - $0.02 NL - Holdem - 8 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 4

BB: $3.55
UTG: $0.65
UTG+1: $3.09
MP: $1.43

Flop: ($0.38, 2 players) 2 5 4
Hero bets $0.24, UTG raises to $0.49 and is all-in, Hero calls $0.25

Again, doesn't merit its own thread - vil is massive fish but with 87% FTCB. Barrel turn?

PartyGaming - $0.02 NL - Holdem - 7 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 4

CO: $2.57
BTN: $4.69
Hero (SB): $2.76
BB: $1.70

Flop: ($0.12, 2 players) 4 2 A
Hero bets $0.10, BB calls $0.10

Turn: ($0.32, 2 players) T
Hero bets $0.26, fold

Hero wins $0.31

Finally, this hurts, especially getting such good odds, but classic Baluga? Vil is weaktight.

Hand 1: Quite a tough one, he'll call preflop with all kinds of junk not just PPs but once he shoves you're probably behind but you obviously can't fold either. I'd probably check and give him the opportunity to bluff or check/fold, not sure which is best tbh.

Hand 2: I'd barrel turn and c/f river if called.

Hand 3: WP, good fold.
