Fold this one, fd came in and most his barrelling hands have equity anyway, and your just going to be have to fold the river so much.

Do you flat call with QQ here or 4bet and if so what size is good for 4bet?

I think 4betting here is bluffing vs a 2.6% 3beet, it's close between calling and folding and I really don't know.
I'd probably just ditch it tbf, honestly not sure tho.

Stoving it, 2.6% is TT+, AKs (or more likely JJ+, AKs/o) so I think I'd take a flop here, given that there are more combinations of AK than AA and KK and we're in position vs the 3bettor. Also, the SB might be 3betting slightly wider than normal here considering he's facing an open from a liberal stealer in the CO. It'd also be made somewhat easier to play postflop by the smaller SPR. 4betting I agree is not good because it folds out all of his worse hands, and although we're almost playing with our cards face-up here (seems fairly easy to put hero on a range of JJ, QQ, AK), this seems to be the best way to play the hand.

Re: June Beginners Bankroll Thread

As it stands I am up $35 this month giving me a total of 165. My plan is to keep playing 2 tables of $4NL until i get up to 220ish including rakeback and playthrough bonuses. I want to jump up to $10NL before july ends. If I am close and there is a deposit bonus on merge I might just deposit a little and give it a shot. Or maybe I'll give it a shot with the idea that I will deposit back to where I was if I start to bomb it.

graph for 6max 2nl zoom today

ran a stack up to $16 at one of the tables. :P

graph for 9max 5nl zoom yesterday

Both graphs i was pretty close to EV line. A bit under in 5nl and a bit over in 2nl. I'll need 130.79 more VPPs to stay silver.

Re: June Beginners Bankroll Thread

Sessions like this makes it all feel so meaningful...

After 22k hands of 25nl FR zoom I'm up only 2BI. I went to the amusement park yesterday and none of the rides there were nearly as swingy as my 25nl roller coaster- graph. I'm trying hard to look for leaks and plug them and hope that the graph will turn more steadily upwards in the next 20k hands.

Up until 10nl I was crushing, but at 25nl it seems I'm pretty break even after rake. How long should I keep playing 25nl without profit before moving back down to 10nl to hopefully also increase my roll more steadily while working on my game?

Re: June Beginners Bankroll Thread

This downswing is ****ing ridiculous. I'm not even running that far below AIEV (only about 1BI out of 3BI down today), it's just **** like this:

PartyGaming - $0.02 NL - Holdem - 6 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 4

Hero (MP): $2.55
CO: $1.75
BTN: $2.00
SB: $0.55
BB: $0.86
UTG: $2.58

SB posts SB $0.01, BB posts BB $0.02

Pre Flop: (pot: $0.03) Hero has 8 8

UTG raises to $0.06, Hero calls $0.06, fold, fold, fold, fold

Flop: ($0.15, 2 players) 5 J 5
UTG checks, Hero bets $0.10, UTG calls $0.10

Turn: ($0.35, 2 players) 9
UTG bets $0.22, Hero calls $0.22

River: ($0.79, 2 players) 8
UTG checks, Hero bets $0.52, UTG raises to $1.22, Hero raises to $2.17 and is all-in, UTG calls $0.95

UTG shows 5 5 (Four of a Kind, Fives) (Pre 19%, Flop 100%, Turn 100%)
Hero mucks 8 8 (Full House, Eights full of Fives) (Pre 81%, Flop 0%, Turn 0%)
UTG wins $4.88

I know I should probably fold the turn here before anyone says.

I also wanted to ask opinions on this one:

PartyGaming - $0.02 NL - Holdem - 9 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 4

UTG: $0.80
UTG+1: $2.38
UTG+2: $3.75
MP: $2.00
MP+1: $0.71
CO: $1.10
BTN: $2.02
Hero (SB): $2.29
BB: $3.47

Hero posts SB $0.01, BB posts BB $0.02

Pre Flop: (pot: $0.03) Hero has A Q

fold, UTG+1 raises to $0.08, fold, fold, fold, fold, fold, Hero calls $0.07, fold

Flop: ($0.18, 2 players) 2 3 Q
Hero checks, UTG+1 bets $0.12, Hero calls $0.12

Turn: ($0.42, 2 players) 4
Hero checks, UTG+1 checks

River: ($0.42, 2 players) K
Hero bets $0.26, UTG+1 calls $0.26

Spoiler:

Vil is 24/19 over 22 hands. Cbet % is 100 but unreliable. Didn't feel I could just fold this one pre, then I felt I'd be missing out on value by donking the flop - and checkraising would overplay my hand. Would've seemed really odd to lead the turn too (given that I'm probably not calling pre and flop with 56 or A5). Being OOP REALLY SUCKS.

My roll is now up to $499.99, I'm aiming to get up to $600 then take a 4BI shot at NL25 so hopefully I can get there before the end of next week at the latest.

Good luck with that Raikonen, hope it sticks for you.
I move constantly between $222 and $280, need to get a few good sessions in a row. Had a good look thru my stats earlier and don't think I'm playing too bad, bit too much oop maybe, and still quite a way under ev and have had a lot of big pot coolers.
Hoping to be at 25nl by end of July but we'll see

First hand fold turn.

Second hand lead turn if u like as board gets drawy. River is not a good card so villain dependent I'd bet/fold just under half pot

Re: June Beginners Bankroll Thread

Yeah I'm finally getting a bit of momentum and don't have the stress of those huge swings anymore! I was stuck at that mark for ages too, couple of times I had to drop back down into NL5 just to re-build a little after a sick swing. Just keep at it and you'll get there eventually! What BR point are you going to take a shot at NL25? Thinking about it I might start mixing 2 tables of NL25 with 2 tables of NL10 as 50BI of NL10 is more than enough and as long as I have a stop-loss point I should be fine.

I'd move up at 20bi's but i can boost my br if need be so dont mind being a bit aggro with it.

I think mixing is good, but I'd want to concentrate more on villains do would only play 2 tables total to start with.

10nl is getting me down a bit. When i review my sessions its mainly coolers and missing with AK that costs me the most. Just not getting many big puts go in my favour for a while. Hoping for things to turn round.

Have stopped being so aggro too, just plain ABC, see how that works out. Less swingy at least

Re: June Beginners Bankroll Thread

Was having a really good day but I let it slip right at the end, I was up $50 through a combination of NL10 and NL25 but I lost a 100bb pot at NL10 and a 120bb pot at NL25 so back down to $30 up for the day. Can't complain though, think I'll do some 2-tabling of NL25 tomorrow as it was hard to concentrate on two different stakes. Plus my HUD kept getting confused so hero stats weren't showing up properly - I like to keep this on so that I can have a reflection of my image plus it helps to show any glaring weaknesses.

Re: June Beginners Bankroll Thread

I've taken my hero hud off, but thinking I may it back on? I dunno really.

Just not getting anything going at all, and seem to be breakeven for long stretches before getting coolered a few times and ending up a few BIs down.

I'm sure it's just a phase.

Have actually tightened up my play to see it through, stats at 18/15 for last sesh which is the lowest i've ever been I think!

Started 3x raising from SB when bvb, didnt seem to make much difference tbh. Will give it another session and see how it goes, but if no change will go back to 2.5x as it's crap playing oop.

Whoever said post 8pm is much more loose and aggro is right. All kinda weird stuff going on tonight. A lot of 3bets being called by small Aces. Frustrating when you have KK and so struggle to put them on AK. Ah well, another day, another dollar!

Re: June Beginners Bankroll Thread

I'm currently sitting at 2 25nl tables with one 450bb stack and one 360bb stack, yet I'm only up 1BI for the session. Did I mention zoom was swingy?

I find deepstack play is a lot more fun than 100bb play. It seems to me that I get a lot more action on my strong hands. Perhaps people think I must be very loose and have been lucky to build such a big stack. Or they think I'm trying to boss them around with my big stack. Has anyone else noticed this effect?

I don't play Zoom, so I can't speak for that, but at NL FR I've noticed the opposite - people seem to fold a lot more to me when I'm deep.

Re: June Beginners Bankroll Thread

Maybe other deepstacks are folding more as they don't want to get involved in big pots with marginal hands. But many of the 100bb stacks seem to think I'm just a fish on a heater (and they're probably right ) and hope to get their share of my stack as soon as possible.

My day at zoom:

The quick 6BI drop starting at 1k hands was quite sick. Both the blue and the red line are dropping like rocks. It's like I'm folding way too much, but when I don't fold I still have the worst hand. I sure could live without times like that!

My 25nl zoom graph so far:

It seems to be steadily bouncing up and down between 4BI. I'm so much looking forward to the day when it won't rebound as soon as I reach the invisible roof around $100 profit.

Got another 3BI from a 1K hand session today, all is going well right now! Long let it continue! It all seemed so...easy; the biggest I lost in a single hand was 30bb due to a mis-read. My roll is now up to $600 so tonight I shall be 4-tabling NL25 for the first time and moving down if I go below $500 again, I'm confident though that as long as I don't run like crap I can stay at NL25.

Another typical day at 25nl zoom. What goes up must come down.

The downswings are always brutal. Once again right about the same point both my blue and my red line start plummeting. I don't really know what this means. Is it just bad cards or a combination of bad cards and trying too hard to compensate for bad cards by playing bad. Towards the end I don't think I was playing my A game anymore and it was probably the latter. Gonna take a break now and watch Portugal beat the crap out of Spain. Might put in yet another short session after that if I feel like playing.

TBH i wouldn't be too worried by the minraise here (villain is fairly aggro). If he has a set he makes it bigger coz of flushy board, and he'd always raise AK pf.

I think this looks more like a FD, and as u have posn I think u can call and re-evaluate ott

You certainly do put the volume in I must say! Those stretches where your red and blue line just plummet are really demoralising, that's when I start to get tilted and like you say it's probably trying too hard that makes it even worse. Do you never think about ending the session while you're up? I always get scared when I'm up so much (like you were at your peak) that it'll go down so I normally stop, it's one aspect of my mindset that I really need to work on. You never get this?

Oh, and btw Spain are going to win I'm afraid. Got a bet on them so they better!

@Nismo, I'd probably just ship flop since he's shortstacked. He's probably committed with whatever his range is so he'll be calling your shove with a FD (if he has one).

The first 1k hands or so are actually from yesterday but PT includes them in today's graph as they were played past midnight.

I do often think about ending my session when I'm up. Perhaps I should as it always seems to rebound... But I keep telling myself that I should just keep getting volume in and try not to let the results have any effect on my game. If I am to beat the game, then I must also be able to beat it even after winning a few BI. After today's session I'm once again down to breakeven at 25nl, but have earned lots of first deposit bonuses and stellar rewards to slightly boost my roll. And I've payed almost $400 in rake, so at least it seems I'm beating the opponents, though not quite the rake yet.

Sorry, I think Spain has won enough already, Portugal's turn now.
