you can beat 2nl by just playing straight forward poker. don't bother trying sick bluffs and **** like that you'l get looked up by donks. go for value and build your roll from that.

What do you guys think about cap games in general? What kind of BRM is suggested for these games? Are there any good articles about cap nlhe?

If you have a ridicules win rate like 4+ pt BB/100 over a sample size of 20 + k hands, I would say you are "crushing" the games you're playing and should seriously consider moving up even if you don't have the standard "40 buy in+" bankroll requiirments or at the very least consider shot taking.

I'm in a similiar situation playng PLO but I'm too much of a bankroll nit to take my own advice and move up quickly

Do as I say not as I do

My understanding is that at microstakes CAP it is pretty much impossible to beat the rake. There are a few winners (handful) at high stakes who beat the game, but the majority who make any money at it are losing on the tables but are coming out slightly ahead after rakeback.

Decided to hit the 5nl Zoom tables, and wow they are soft. Between the tables been so soft and my amazing rungood juice I made $32.02 in 470 hands!

Old BR: $76.92
New BR: $104.73

It's obviously not going to be good if the higher stakes affects your play. I've not been running super-hot (about 6 BI below EV at the moment) over 25k hands since I started playing seriously, and with a 12ptBB/100 winrate I still struggle mentally with 4NL. XD

Is it that big a deal if you lose 4 dollars? Really? Its 4 dollars, get over it lol

I think I'm going take my own advice

11 K hands 13 pt BB/100 at PLO5

I heard about a guy on cardrunners who beat 5nl for like 6k over a million hands and then had problems moving up anyone know who this is?
06-15-2012 , 03:08 AM
I know that blackrain (coaches on dragthebar) - did exactly what you suggested.

I can't remember his SN, but iirc it was verneer who talked about this maybe 18 months or so ago (?) I think he may have then done some coaching with the guy.

My memory could definitely be faulty here, but check out verneer's CR blog, I think it is in there.

Update:

Month is going hella well, decided to play some turbos vs a b/e high vol reg guy that I was up over a few games and it set off an upswing (think I went 10-2 or 9-2 something like that playing turbos primarily against him, then I moved up and played some $35 turbos and am up a few bi there). This gave me the roll to start shotting 30 hypers (woohoo aggro brm!) which I opted to do and so far it's been going well though my card distro has been solid and I'm running pretty well too. But I still maintain that I've only seen one or 2 semi-solid regs playing $15s and $30s in the cake hypers. These games are unbelievably soft. I love it.

Pretty sure I'm up 11bi at the $30s from my shots today, will continue tomorrow. With my aggro brm if I have another +10bi day I'll actually be able to start shotting $45s. Been quite a while since I've played $30s+, good to get back there.

Vol has really dipped off though, I missed the next ronin tier (taking away motivation to grind) and my main grind laptop is currently being repaired which is a huge hassle. Taking time to visit the fam and such. Hope to pick up the volume and end the month at ~2k games at least though if Lock traffic remains where it's been around.

And now, graph of the month.

Lock sucks (Honestly) - I was going to play there - but the fact I won't be able to get money out for a while (Lol slow verification + Slow cashout) + Bad software + Bad support - pretty much means I'll stick to stars.

I can understand that. For me, though:

I have vigless xfers through backer, can get money within a week post revolution-change, haven't had too much trouble with software personally (it needs some work but it's manageable), haven't needed support really. And with dep bonus + rb + ronin I get ~100% rb. Games are also way easier than stars; through 30s I'd estimate they're approx 1.5bi levels below skillwise and packed with fishregs. Traffic is ok.

But before I start sounding like a shill/affiliate, I'm playing here because stars is gone and my state is still locked out from merge. Gl on stars enprinte, I'm jealous
06-15-2012 , 06:31 PM
ronin? what network is that?
06-15-2012 , 08:00 PM
Lock.
06-15-2012 , 08:20 PM
I might check out that deposit bonus
06-16-2012 , 01:42 AM
I really want to put my money on there but its like Lock is giving me every reason not to

Assume you mean me. Yeah, primarily hypers with a handful of turbos. Think I have like 10 dons in there and am +$40 or so at them, but not sure. My HEM doesn't really track properly.

I realized I have over 100% eff rb so now I'm also sitting coinflips which will totally screw my graph, but meh Slightly +EV and also clearing fpp which might get me an extra ronin tier or 2 (+2% or +3.5% monthly rb depending if I hit) which is pretty nice.

Decent outcome, but I don't really like how you played the hand - fold pre, c/f flop, and I don't see why you don't just shove the river.

i played it awesome and won the chips imo

Many technically bad plays preflop become winners if your opponents are bad enough imo
