Iso shove or flat call? Iso shove or flat call?

Hey everyone,

I was playing at my local card room tournament ($100) buy in and I was at the final table with 7 people left. The final table is not that deep with this tournament as everyone is around 10-15BB except for the BB who has 350k~

Blinds are 8k/16k 2k ante.

UTG alls in for 44k (I just doubled through him last hand)

Everyone folds to me

SB (HERO 250k) I have AJo. I ended up shoving to isolate since I'm going to be way ahead most of the time and did not want to give BB(chip leader) a good price to call.

Now the pay outs were not anything amazing since it was a local card room tourney, but with ICM involved should I always be flatting here?

BB wakes up with KK and he knocks us both us out and I am out in 6th.
Are these one of the situations when they just wake up with it and you shrug or should I always be flatting and fold to BB if he shoves.

Pay outs are something around this.

1st 3500
2nd 2200
3rd 1500
4th 900
5th 770
6th 635
7th 515

Thanks

Super standard shove, anything else is throwing away money. It's less than a 3bb raise, if you flat he can call with a ton of hands and basically secure his equity because the main pot is protected and he is in position. Or what if he shoves 88/99/TT/KQs/ATs and you throw away your equity?

Seems standard. If the shorty hadn't been in the pot, you presumably would have jammed BvB and gone busto still.

Depends on the other stacks.

I'd consider flat/folding in that spot though, even v a fairly wide utg shove range, you're only going to be 60/40 which is nice, but not great.

The BB isn't really incentivized to shove on you either.

It really depends on the other stacks, I'd plug it into ICMizer and take a look because although it seems like a standard spot, it really may not be so.

I would be shocked to see that the other stacks matter, beyond what was given in the OP. I’d appreciate if you would plug the numbers in and show us the results.

We know there are 4 players between UTG and hero and their stacks are 10-15BB. Can you really create a scenario where hero’s action with AJ depends on those 4 stack sizes if we know that (at least) one is 10BB and (at least) one is 15BB and the others are in between?

Maybe I am overestimating this but I wouldn't be surprised if you could turn your cards face up, shove and still make a profit.

if the bb isnt the type to run you off here without a giant hand you could certainly flat call. you can get away from this if the bb moves in.
