Doing a little homework on hand combos that make sense, want to make sure I am on the right path before doing more

If the flop is Ad 6h 8c how many combos of:
1 pair: 168
2 pair: 27
Sets: 9
Straight draw: 16

1 pair: total 168
Ax (excluding 6 and 8)-->12*10=120 combos
I get 12 by using 3 Aces and 4 of x = 12. 10 because A2-AK minus 6 and 8
Assuming connected for pair of 6s and 8s = 48 combos
56, 67, 78, 89. 12 combos of each

2pair: total 27
A6, A8, 68. Really should be 18 if we are assuming connectors only, 68 would be out.

Sets: total 9
3!/2 for AA, 66, 88

SD: total 16
should be N/A because 57 is the only hand for a straight draw

Am I on the right path here?
Haven't added in the hole cards or what an acceptable range actually is. Probably along the lines of, V might play A5 suited but not A5o

You're forgetting gut shot draws. Don't assume connectors only, or people who call with a naked gut draw like T7. You can limit the gutshot draws to suited if you want, and discount those by x%, but if a 7 shows up OTR, and villain shoves...."He can't have called with T9 (or 54)" are in the "famous last words" category.

You're on the right lines, but assuming you're starting with a 100% range (any two cards), then as well as there being 120 combos of Ax that made one pair, there's also 120 combos of 6x and 8x, and 60 combos of KK-99, 77, 55-22. (420 combos of exactly one pair).
If the starting range is 22+, Ax, any two connected cards, then it is indeed 48 combos of 6x and 8x.

It's probably best to notate the starting range and then you can put it into Equilab/Flopzilla to confirm your combo-counting is correct.

e.g. With the (weird) starting range of 22+, A2s+, KQs, QJs, JTs, T9s, 98s, 87s, 76s, 65s, 54s, 43s, 32s, A2o+, KQo, QJo, JTo, T9o, 98o, 87o, 76o, 65o, 54o, 43o, 32o the combos that make precisely one pair on A86r are shown here:

Which program are you using?

Didn't even think about the 1 pair being a pocket pair...oops

Why is there only 75 for straight draws but not 97? Also gutshots: T9, T7, 95, 74, 54 and all kinds of backdoor FDs and SDs.

Equilab. If you enter a range and a flop, a little pie-chart button appears next to the range. Clicking on that produces the matrix like the one in the screenshot. A lot of Equilab users aren't aware of its existence.
