How essential is it for me to use something like PokerTracker?
I am a grinder on Stars and I am currently playing $0.5/$1 PLO. I am focusing on this full-time.
Do pretty much all top players use something like this nowadays? Just wondering how much of a help it is. I am currently just sitting here playing 2 tables and focusing on what is going on and doing well. Wondering if I need this for when I step up in stakes.
Thanks.

HUDs help a lot but are not necessary. They're useful for tracking your results and being able to look at your own stats. Basically all advanced players have either holdem manager 2/3 or pokertracker 4
Both HM2 (and maybe 3 Idk) and PT4 have free trials. You should try both.

You are a cash game player, so having one of these programs would be very beneficial for your game.

Thanks for the replies.
I have created a thread where I am doing a challenge. I want to be able to post hands for people to see. I have searched other threads to see if I can get some info. I see some have shown graphs from something called photobucket.com. Also, others have posted hands from deucescracked. I see I have to pay around 30 bucks per month for deucescracked. Is this worth it too? Or could I use something like PokerTracker and post hands in my thread from that?
Thanks for all the help!

I think a HUD is probably less important for PLO than NLH. That said, at the $100 level, I would guess that about 90% of Stars players are using HUDs and trackers. A lot of the field are professionals or wannabe professionals, and you can't easily track your results and learn from your mistakes if you don't automate the process.
