How do I study a poker session? How do I study a poker session?

Been playing for 15 years (I'm 29). Just played a 10nl session of 500 hands and was up $20 but then got lazy/passive/and stupid and ended the session breakeven. I know the hand that ended it, but I don't know how else to study the session.

What do I look for? Do I get a coach? I don't have a solver. I might have just been card dead. There weren't any spots I was really "confused" or "unsure of." Just wish there was something I could learn from each session. Should I get a coach? I don't have a friend that can help me learn.

Sometimes it's good to go back to the basics and re-learn everything, change your game. Also check Online Poker Equity Scanner app for iOS, might help too if you are using it. It helped me a lot

just go over some of the hands you played. could you have done anything differently? did you make any mistakes? look at hands your opponents played. did they do anything differently than you might have done? try to take your time and consider everything from all angles. list pros and cons. did you check when you should have bet? post a few hands from your session in the forums. get some other advice on them.

what I do is tag hands I'm uncertain about during a session, then study them afterwards.

this often involves a solver sim, which you obviously won't have access to, but the most important bit honestly is making sure I review each player's range at each decision node, and then if I'm uncertain about a decision still and I'm not just trying to play a quasi-equilibrium strat in that spot, I'll often draw decision trees.

honestly you don't need a solver, you need to do a lot of hard work with a pen and paper

OR... if still uncertain, post the hand on this forum.
