How Common is it for decent players to suffer coolers / running bad that see you loose like 9 of 11 games ?
Been getting beat with things Like PRE FLOP AA - JJ
Two Pair and a Flush draw with the turn and river yet to come.
To add insult to injury then you see the two different guys have their pocket 77s hold up vs two or three villains.
Its really starting to play with my head.

Downswings are very, very common. Just make sure that it is an actual downswing. Consider the following

1. Are you really a good player, or did you let an upswing convince you are good?
2. Do you really consistently make good decisions, or are you only remembering the times your aces got cracked, but forgetting all the times that you won by sucking out?
3. Has the downswing affected your play? Has your belief that your hand will never hold up caused you to start playing scared, suboptimal, passive poker?

A downswing of 9 sessions is not unusual, but often, there is something else going on. Look at your game very objectively for leaks. Analyze hands and see if you are making mistakes. Learn to be very blunt with yourself. 'It's just a downswing' is a lie that a lot of mediocre poker players (I speak from experience) use when the game has adapted to them and they can no longer win.

@spewing I Totally understand about being honest with yourself.
I keep records of every game I play (I only play live) and I never ever fudge a result not ever.
As for making good decisions ?
I am not sure that it is the prefect way to gauge it ? But If I am betting or raising when I am the Favorite at THAT moment (or at least had good hand equity with outs to improve) I think that was a good decision.
Maybe I am wrong but I think its a very good thing to recongnize when I played like crap or when I got humped.
I also am encouraged that lately my mental notes have been fairly good.
Example I say to myself Those 2 guys wont be here long they are contesting way to many hands. That guy over there he is Way to agressive for his own good. The other guy is tight and when he is betting he is probably strong.
Thanks for your 2 cents

Assuming you are a solid/good player and you're not suffering from perception bias, then yes, like others have said, downswings do happen. Streaks of coolers are just as likely to occur as streaks of hot cards. (Interestingly enough both hot and cold streaks at anything are a near statistical certainty over a large enough range)

I recently went through an extremely frustrating downswing right when I could least afford it after having had to take a big chunk of my "roll" (i have a full time job but I try to keep my bankroll separate anyway) for an unexpected life event. At the worst possible time, after stepping back down to lower limits, I ran into coolers and suckouts for weeks. From standard stuff like flopping sets and losing to draws to people hitting 2 and 3 outers on the river to my personal favorite - FLopped a set, turned the boat, river put the 3rd broadway heart on the river. Guess where the other two broadway hearts were? Yep - my boat got one outered.

All you can do is push through it, adjust your bankroll, step down limits if you have to , and keep on thru until you break out of it.

the easiest way is to use the pokerdope simulator where you can run any number of hands / tournaments and get a good idea what you are up against.

OP the answer is "very common". It is annoying at best, tilting at worst. There is no way to avoid these situations entirely. As you get "better" at poker you can try to avoid these hands sometimes , but the most important thing is to learn to deal more positively when coolers and suckouts happen. Easy to say, but important for you to do.
