So get more money in earlier when your hands are good, and learn not to go over the top when you have an unimproved big pair unless the other guy is completely brain dead. If you get J3 stacking you on a J73 board when only 5-10% of stacks are in pre, it's probably not the other guy that's making the error in the hand

Play more hands that have more potential to improve to the nuts. Axs hands are great in games like this. Don't get married to your top pair in multiway pots. Size your PF raises to get the # callers you want. Play a ton of suited connectors and suited hands in single raise pots. I assume you play much better postflop than everyone else. Basically play a ton of hands, bet big with the goods, take all the money.

It may not be most +EV but it's the most consistent way of winning all you sessions at such tables. Riding the variance train can cause some people to go on tilt with a few unlucky cracked aces and kings. The attendant bad play when on tilt can quickly negate any EV edge.

Especially with a low bankroll: Avoiding variance is the way to go if you want to minimize your risk of ruin. Once your bankroll is sufficient for such games and you have faith in the math then you can go the other way and take the long view ... and just don't mind the few unlucky sessions.

When seeing bingo-players rake in big pots it helps to remind oneself that they are not winning...just shifting chips around the table.

Ignoring that "consistently winning" at the expense of EV is lol, OP plays donkaments and there is nothing to be gained from an opponent tilting when they're on the rail

How is this 'lol' when you're doing it at the expense of a not insignificant RoR with a bad BR?

Think about it: Would you take
a) 1000 games at 60/40 advantage each game if you have only one buy-in
Or
b) 1000 games at 55/45 if you have 10 buy-ins

Once you have enough bankroll to push your RoR under 5% (or whatever risk you feel acceptable) then you can go for the higher variance route.

Why do people keep bringing up this absolutely useless point of "but bankroll bla bla" in a local donkament with a buy in that is irrelevant and mostly for fun?

You beat these people by betting your big hands, including preflop. That's just the way it works.

Because - believe it or not - people like to win. And if you can improve your chances for winning by playing less EV/lower risk of ruin AND you like winning, then you should go for it.

Read OP's question. He did not ask how to make the most money.

So the question I'm asking is when you have a premium hand should you be pumping it up to something rediculous like 10x the BB? Trust me you'd still get at least 2 callers in our games.
And the answer is yes.

I actually varied it a good bit and flat called my premium hands and when I hit the flop bet big and got called on numerous occasions. This seemed to work as I went on to win the tourney, I'll set my plan to the same mentality next Saturday and see if it works out the same.
