I'm no beginner to poker in fact I have been playing since I was 18 But what I struggle with is keeping a balance, I manage to keep it for 3-4 days then I get board and want to play high buy in's and with that the variance kills my roll. what should I do to combat that? what advice can folks give I don't like reading book but some folks have told me to.

#1 Stop asking dumb questions
#2 Stop playing high buy-ins

It's really as easy as that.
Do the work, build that discipline and don't do dumb ****.

Most sites will allow you to restrict what limits you can buy into. Use that facility.

Try and understand why you play. You are playing for fun. Higher stakes are more fun, so you play them.

You are not playing to win money. Disciplined bankroll management is critical to making money.

Understand your motivations and have realistic expectations surrounding them. You are not a serious player. That is perfectly OK. But don't expect to consistently win unless you are willing to do the boring grind on the table, and the brain work off the table, required to be a winning player.

If you want to be a serious player, you need to be realistic about what you are capable of, from a discipline and maturity standpoint.

You really need to make a list of priorities and goals for your poker life/career. You also need to ask yourself why you're jumping into higher buyins. If it's because you're an action junkie and need the adrenaline rush/dopamine hit then you should probably just consider yourself a fun player and play whatever stakes you are content with and set a spending limit so you don't gamble away your grocery/rent money.

If you are truly serious about being a winning player you need to really answer some bankroll questions and PUT THEM IN WRITING on paper, date and sign it and put it somewhere you can review every 3-6 months or so to evaluate and change as needed.

Here's a sample list and isn't all encompassing...

1. What can I comfortably spend in a month to play poker if I have a losing month without feeling "stuck"?
2. What is my effective bankroll and can I add to this bankroll with other income?
3. What stakes can I play with this bankroll and addition plan in mind?
4. What does my bankroll need to grow to before I play at higher stakes?
5. How am I going to track my sessions and win/loss rate?
6. What books/training resources are a manageable cost/time for me to improve my game at the stakes I plan to play?

There are free options like this forum. And don't spend money on a training material that you aren't willing or capable to actually study because you will inevitably think you're getting better simply because you are spending money even though you aren't actually doing the work.

I've read all the comments and every single poster has given you great information to combat your problem. Follow BRM, Grind it out, Set a stop-loss per session (Example: 3-5 Buyins) and stick to it. That is 100% the key, "Sticking to it". Discipline is the difference between a "winner" and a "loser".
