So I'm at the final table...
8 players left...
It gets folded to SB...

Blinds are 6000...

SB has 51k chips
Hero 42k chips...

SB has been jamming everytime on the SB...Before the final table SB was a bit of a nit...then final table came...and he gets loose as hell.
Hero is holding 55.

I ended up calling... SB has ATo...he hits his river T and knocks me out.
Should I have folded? Was this a bad call?
Sorry it's my first time asking for an opinion online regarding a poker hand.

Depending on antes, SB is supposed to ship somewhere between 2/3 and 4/5 of hands 7BB eff. deep. Calling off 55 is super standard unless there is a very unconventional payout structure.

Need to know:

1. Payout structure
2. Stacks of the other 6 players.
3. You said "Blinds are 6000" - does this mean 2000 SB, 4000 BB?

Can't give you a good answer without knowing these details.

How many get paid?

What is the payout structure?

The big blind is 6,000?

What are the other players' approximate stacks?

If you are on the bubble and there are a few other players with like 1 big blinds for example, then this is probably a fold.

ICM calculators can be used for situations like this to calculate the EV of calling or folding. But you would have to enter the information that people have asked about in this thread.

Luck plays a huge role. You gotta win these flips. go for the win and call with 55 here.

As everyone else has noted remaining stacks and whether or not you'r already in the money are key factors. If you'r already in the money then this is pretty much always going to be a call even if villain wasn't shoving light.

I've seen a few 55 folds when 8-handed, but once you get down to 4-6 remaining then pretty much any pair needs to go in HU , especially in the blinds. Structure and payouts are ICM important as well. (You do realize you were slightly ahead, right?) GL
