Let me set the stage. Table down to the last 3 players. Dealer is stack leader, big blind has 2 and a half blinds left, and small blind has 5 big blinds left. Dealer folds and big blind has King 7 off suit. Small blind calls and the flop comes out. It is Ace, 7, 10. small blind goes all in what should the big blind do?
Not only is dealer's stack size important, the payout structure is as well, but with these stack sizes you should never see any questions on how to play a flop
Absent any reads or background, SB should never be completing with any A or any pocket pair, so BB should be safe to call with middle pair\good kicker (I am assuming you are big blind)
As alluded to above, ICM is a huge factor here, so each players stack sizes and the payout structure is very relevant here as well.
with 1 and half big blinds left I would be shoving pre. if i was sb i would also be shoving rather than just calling.
flop i'm calling and praying he doesn't have a T. I'm at best have 5 outs if he has a T. I need to get a bigger stack to have a shot at winning this tourny. shove pre all day long. whats chip leaders stack? if its like 10BB we certainly need to win small blinds chips and not allow dealer to win small blinds 5BB stack.
I don't worry about payouts since i'm aiming to finish first. finshing second and winning a extra $300 or $300,000 is not what im after. I want to finish first.

Thanks for the input. It was a small game at a friends house. The dealer had everyone at least tripled up. I was watching and thought that the big blind should have folded assuming the all in call had at least an ace or a 10. Not huge payout but bragging rights for sure.
