Will regular tables die out, from everyone eventually switching to fastfold?

Dont have the exact numbers on me but on PS for example
even on peak times theres not a lot of reg tables running (around 15?) at small/midstakes, while theres a lot of traffic on zoom (around 200 ppl in the pool) at those stakes at that same time.

When table selecting at like 2nl theres so much fish to reserve to sit next to on the regular tables, but how does this work when theres so little tables to choose from?

Any opinions/experiences on regular tables vs zoom would be cool

I think zoom formats will likely take over and be the majority. You don't get to pick who you sit next to in these but there are reasons why recreational players might like zoom more so I think it will win out.

The changes Pokerstars brought in today should fix some of the problems. The 24-tabling nitbots will likely go elsewhere now that Stars will only allow people to play 4 tables at once. That should make it easier to get on a fishy table.
Long term, the trend is towards zoom, though.

^^ Better.

Unfortunately NLHE is a game of tiny edges.

From the perspective of making money (the only perspective that matters) online in 2003 a fish was...

A calling station, who had no software, no clue and no resource. And also back then there was this wonderful thing called rakeback of up to 30%.

Now your "nit/tagfish" watch poker videos, read poker books, and have poker software up the ying yang (legal and illegal). And rakeback has all but disappeared.

You do the math

I see what youre getting at but I dont believe online will die, for various reasons that im sure are mentioned in "online poker dead 2019?!?" threads.

I just wonder how poker is played in the future, zoom or regular tables.

There are also mixed opinions about the world being round or flat.

I don’t think regular tables will totally die out because there are always some “traditionalists” who think the game is supposed to be played in a specific way. Zoom games are an evolution to a poker game that provides players with the benefits of digitalization, with “instant gratification” being the biggest thing.

When somebody in a casino tells me they don’t think Zoom is real poker and that patience and waiting for the next and is a big part of the game, I ask them if they wait out a 15 minute half time break when playing Madden or FIFA on their PlayStation.
